Roof, Wednesday Night

Ranma was holding Mizu in his arms, a search for an explanation to his unusual problem had yielded him nothing. Just a bruise on his left side from a really hard slug to the ribs. Mizu may have been enjoying the comfort provided by an ample bosom, but Ranma wasn't sharing the sentiment. He went to the roof looking for Chad, he's a bit too stubborn to actually go to his room and admit he really wanted to see him. His fight with Setsuna the other day was making think about some things he'd never allowed himself to think before... And he really wanted to just find someone to talk to.

((Open, but mostly for a giant bass-playing Mexican.))

Sure, Chad had his own room now, but some habits were hard to break and, as if still wanting to give Jim and Lana time so that he didn't wander in from work into something that would have just been awkward (as much as his mind thought it, he wouldn't allow himself to actually hope that such timing would end up beneficial to him because, yeah, he knew better than to get his hopes up), he wandered up to the roof to kill some time.

He couldn't get the showtunes from work out of his head, and was humming a bit.

"Oh, hey, Ranma. Mizu."

He's happy to see him and he turns and smiles shyly, "Hey."

Chad nodded toward the empty space beside where Ranma was sitting. "Mind some company?"

"That's fine..." He rubs Mizu's ears then sets him on the safer part of the roof to run around. Maybe pee on Bel's anti-emo plants.

Carefully, Chad lowered himself down beside Ranma, looking over his shoulder at the released Mizu, thinking, no, puppy, you don't want to run around the roof, you want to come see Chad for pets and scritches.

Puppy, unfortunately, has much romping to do before he's tired and wants to rest on Chad's lap. He'll take a rain-check though. "How was your day?" He tries to be a bit chaty.

Chad turned with his shoulders sagging significantly. Denied by a puppy. Brutal.

"Was good," he responded. "Kinda boring. Funny as hell discussion in government, though."

"Yeah?" He actually does look interested, He's not THAT self-centered that he'd not give someone else a chance to talk.

"Yeah. The Pete guy who always talks shit about Mexicans--" Slight glare; Chad paid close attention to things in class "--threatening English Peter with charges of being English. Something like that."

"Sounds like an idiot to me... English Peter is a good guy."

"Yup."

Whoo, conversation.

"How 'bout your day?"

"Not much happened.. Still can't find a way to change back... And I got in a fight with Setsuna last night too..."

"Did you?" Underneath all that hair, an eyebrow furrowed worriedly with Chad's frown. "What about?"

He lapses to Japanese because he's no longer thinking so hard about what he's going to say, he's just letting out what he's kept to himself. //She jus'... we.... got inta a stupid fight all cuz she wouldn't even let me compliment her. Sure she lets stupid Jude sit around and tell her anythin' in the world and believes it but I say one thin' an' she says 'm lyin'! An' I wasn't! 's like she doesn't believe a word I say! An' she's never gonna. 'd do anythin' fer her and she's never gonna care!// He looks really quite frusterated. It's like he's realizing all this for the first time as he says it.

Chad took this all in slowly, carefully.

//"What did you say to her? I mean, the compliment. I'm gussing that's what triggered the fight."//

//All I said was... that she was cute...// He blushes even trying to repeat it.

//"And that caused a fight?"//

He holds his face in his hands. //Yeah. Cuz she's just sittin' there sayin' "Liar!" and actin' all pissed like I said it as a joke or somethin'!//

Chad knew he probably should have allowed it to slip through, but he smirked a little. His elbow nudged Ranma. //"Sounds a little bit like how someone else I know has acted when I've called him cute."//

Well, maybe not so much on the liar part, but definately the pissed part.

He's very overtaken by blushing now. He was talking about his girl form at the time of course... Not the REAL "him" //B-But.. 'm a guy! Ain't the same t-thing... This is... different...//

//"How is it different? Just 'cause she's a girl, she's supposed to fawn over anyone who calls her cute?"//

Man. If only it were that easy...Chad shook his head a bit. //"No offense, Ranma, but something tells me you've got a lot to learn about girls."//

He's bowled over by this comment. //OBVIOUSLY. Ya know I grew up talkin' ta no one other than my crazy old man. Ya think I know how ta talk ta girls? I hardly know how ta talk ta anyone!//

Chad avoided using that last statement as an comment on Ranma's horrendous Japanese.

//"The way I see it, then, you've got three cases."//

He listed them off on his massive fingers.

//"One. She really doesn't like being called cute, in which case you should stop. Doesn't matter if she really is or not."//

//"Two. She likes it, but is being difficult because she's playing hard to get and likes the attention."//

//"Or three. She likes it, but doesn't know how to respond to it. And finds it easier to push it away with objections than to figure it out."//

//How'm I suposed ta know which one anyway..?//

//"And that's the tough part,"// he said with an almost forlorn tone.
