Evie's having a *very* good day. She has a date for the Homecoming Dance. And somehow, she's been nominated for Sophomore court. It's probably a mistake, but still!

To celebrate, she's eating ice cream while doing her 21st Century homework. In a way. Spooky Things isn't a sitcom, but still...

"That's a cool car," Dean confirmed. "Not as cool as my Dad's but cool. And I bet your brother never had to look after you. That's where the responsibility comes from."

"Well, no, not really," Evie admitted. "There were always nannies and governesses, or workers at the site. Although sometimes he would take me to the park and pretend he was looking after me, to talk to the other children's nannies. But he always bought me an extra lolly after he did that." She tilted her head at the car, then pointed at the screen. "Could they *really* do that, run over an evil mime with their car and not stop? Because I would think it would be very bad for the automobile."

"Depends on if it's a ghost mime or a demon mime," Dean said, giving it some thought. "Ghosts they'll go right through. Demons, you might need to bang some dents out later. But you got a good enough car and hit it just right, it would keep going."

"Really," Evie widened her eyes, fascinated. "Do you think an Aston-Martin would do it? My father has one. I'm not allowed to drive it, but still. It's very sturdy."

"Yeah, it would probably do the trick if you aimed just right," Dean said thoughtfully. "Is he going to let you drive it when you're older?"

"Well, in theory, yes," Evie hedged. "Except my mother tends to look pale and tragic when it's discussed. And then she starts reciting motorway accident statistics. I'm letting Jonathan soften her up. He says he wants a motorbike."

Dean chuckled. "You should try asking for one of the hoverbikes they've got here. They'll fall all over themselves to let you drive the car instead."

"Oh good lord. Hoverbike? Is that what it sounds like?" She almost squeals. "A bike that flies? Ooooo. Oh, now *I* want one. I'm in the Flying Club, you know," Evie said confidingly. "And I'm not doing very awful."

Crashing once per session is standard, right?

"Yeah, it's what it sounds like. Alec has one; you should ask him to show it to you. Just don't be afraid to whap him if he gets too forward."

Evie laughed. "I shan't, then. Though I haven't heard anything really disconcerting about Alec, except from your brother. He said that Alec is always kindest to pretty girls, which was an odd kind of compliment to me and my roommate." She sighed happily. "But a flying bike. Oh, I shall have to offer him a full tin of biscuits-- cookies, I mean-- to obtain a ride!"

Dean grinned. "He'd like that. He likes sweets. 'Specially M&Ms and milkshakes. And Alec's okay. I don't mean to imply he's the sort to attack you or anything. It's just he's from the future and you're from the past and what he may think is appropriate might not be what you do."

"Oh, that makes much more sense. He seemed very pleasant, the one time I met him." Evie blushed bright red. "And I have homemade cookies that I have to share, or eat all of them and rot my teeth. So it's a perfect solution!" She sighed happily, then leaned forward, looking inquisitive. "Tell me, do you already have a corsage for Layla's dress?"
