Fourth Floor Common Room, Sunday Morning

Dean figured he'd spent enough time hiding holed up in his room and besides it hadn't worked very well anyway. So he was in the kitchen cooking breakfast, idly wondering if his brother's food radar would work from a different floor with no advanced warning.

He was sure other people's food radar would work though so he was cooking in quantity.

Kira's head dropped a little and she stared. "That happened again?"

Conner rolled his eyes. "Yeah-huh. Except instead of getting nearly killed by monsters, we almost emo-ed ourselves to death."

Kira tried not to laugh, and failed. "And we thought we trained you so well."

"It wasn't my fault!" protested Conner. "Stuff like that just happens around here, all the time!"

"I'm sure it wasn't," Kira said. "Just take it easy. You'll have plenty of time to freak out later. And you totally will."

"You miss me and you know it," Kira said, smiling.

"Well, duh," Conner replied with a cheeky grin, slinging an arm around Kira's shoulders. "Actually, sorry, no, I only tell everybody about you because I'm ashamed of you."

"I knew it!" Kira said. "You totally brag about me. Which I guess I kinda found out from Parker yesterday, but still."

"What else did Parker tell you about me?" Conner asked cautiously.

"Oh, just that you totally got into PDA, apparently," Kira said. "Which will totally gross Ethan out, as you know, but I think Trent's going to be all jealous."

"Oh, God." Conner grimaced. "Did you really think Trent was . . . oh, God."

"Wait, you're saying you and Trent never..." Kira gestured, vaguely.

"Me and Trent? Are you kidding?" Conner exclaimed. "No way!"

"I mean, there was serious sexual tension there," Kira said. "I can't believe I was imagining it."

Conner started to object again, but halfway through opening his mouth to say anything stopped, tilted his head to the side, and got a very, very weird look on his face.

"Okay, yeah, in retrospect I guess there was. I didn't think about it like that back then, though!"

"So now you're going to try the denial trick, huh?" Kira asked.

"Kind of hard to deny something when you don't even know what it is to deny," Conner said. A little defensively? Well, yes.

"Okay, okay," Kira said. She paused. "I actually kind of have to get going."

"Already?" Conner asked, all the defensiveness gone from his voice and a definite look of disappointment on his face. "Do you have to?"

"I have to catch my bus," Kira said. "Not exactly like I can just, you know, summon a pteradactyl to fly me home, anymore."

"The inconvenience of being normal," Conner teased. "At least let me walk you there, huh?"

"Like I'm going to say no?" Kira said.

"You would, just to see me argue the point." Conner crossed his arms over his chest and mock-glared at her. "Let's go grab your stuff, then."

"Right, let's go," Kira said, slinging an arm around Conner's shoulder. "And you can tell me aaaaall about Anders as we go."
