Fifth Floor Common Room, Monday evening

Using the excuse of no classes this week to have no meeting for clubs, Bel lounged in the fifth floor common room, still troubled by the message he'd gotten the night before.

Maybe Monday Night Football would be distracting enough to get his mind of it and trying to figure out what to do.

Phoebe was still ill, and that meant being bored and wandering. So, she wandered into the common room and smiled when she saw Cole.

"You should be in bed," Cole scolded, but he scooted over on the couch to make room for her.

"Missed you," she said simply as she sat down with him, wrapping the blanket around her.

He wrapped his arm around her, hoping she wouldn't sense the turmoil in his thoughts. "First sign of coughing and I'm making you go to bed," he said.

He was so cute when he hoped for things like that.

"I took meds," she said. "I'll be okay, except for maybe falling asleep on you." She stared at the TV for a long moment. "What happened last night? The party upset you?"

"What do you mean?" he said. "The party was fine. You should've seen Wilson's hair, and Jamie was a Xerox machine." He started to babble, trying to distract her.

Phoebe turned her face to look at him. "I felt you when you came in last night. You seemed fine and then all of a sudden you were upset."

He didn't want to hide it from her, so after a moment's hesitation, he confessed. "I got a message," he said. "From my foster father. It was waiting for me when I got back."

"In our dorm?" She didn't need to ask, she already knew the answer to that. "What does the bastard want now?"

"He wasn't there," Cole assured her. "He sent the message magically. He wants me to get something for him...."

"What is it?"

[demonbelthazor]

"An amulet," Cole said. "One that a witch has." He looked down, unable to meet her eyes.

Phoebe swallowed. "He wants you to kill this witch to get her amulet."

[demonbelthazor]

Cole shook his head. "He just wants the amulet. He didn't say I had to kill the witch." He finally looked back up at Phoebe. "I won't do it, I won't kill for him."

"I know you won't," she said gently. "You're not that person any more. You're you."

"This is a test of some sort," Cole said. "If I don't do it...I don't know what Raynor will do."

"He'll get himself killed is what he will do," she said fiercely... before she started coughing.

"That's it, time for bed," Cole said, standing up and drawing Phoebe gently to her feet.

"He cannot have you,"she said stubbornly. "This is your home now and you're free to make your own decisions."

[demonbelthazor]

"I know," he said, gently stroking her hair. "I don't want to go back to that life."

[sensethevisions]

"Won't let him do that to you again," she promised him.

[demonbelthazor]

He rested his chin on the top of her head. He knew it was his choice, not hers, but he loved her fierceness. "I know, sweetheart," he said. "I know."

"I should have a chat with this guy." She said sniffling a little. "He's not allowed to hurt you or make you do things and I want to tell him so."

"He's very powerful," Cole said. "You don't want to mess with him."

[sensethevisions]

"I don't plan to mess with him."

Just talk to her sisters and look for a way to kill him.

He hugged her close. "I'll tell him I won't do it," he said.

Phoebe hugged him tightly to her. "Be careful, Cole. This... this is bad."

"I will," he promised. "I'll go see him tomorrow and tell him that I don't work for him anymore."
