Pip taped a note onto the gym door.

Highly-trained mercenary seeks sparring partner for a quick spar. Human strength greatly preferred but not necessary.

He nodded at his note and went about hitting the bag, hoping someone would come in.

"Yo," Pip said, hitting the bag.

"Hey." Pippi said. "I'm not here to fight, unless nobody else takes you up on your offer."

"Thanks. You're wonderful, but I think a fight against you would be a bit mismatched, and I'm trying to see how I do against average strenghted persons."

Pippi nodded.

"Likewise." Pippi said. "I was hoping to run into Bel or something."

"Hoping to fight against someone who can take your haymaker and not lose their head?"

"...Something like that yeah." Pippi said. "I don't do good in fights against other strong people. Nadia suggested Judo."

"Hmmm. Yeah... Judo might be really good. You tend to rely on grappling a lot, don't you?"

"Yeah. I don't like to hit people."

"Well," hit. "From what I understand of judo, the idea is that your own strength isn't as important as using the other person's strength against them. Like... if you tried to take on a true judo master, they'd whipe the floor with you, because they'd use all the strength you used to throw you into a wall or something."

"Which has happened once already."

"...When did you get thrown into a wall?"

"April, remember? I was afraid you'd be mad because I got into a fight without you and Walter (http://community.livejournal.com/fandomhighdorms/527979.html). And then there was that demon we fought in the caves when Phoebe was kidnapped. I tried to pull him off his feet and he almost shook me off too... Then we had to cut off his head."

"So," Nadia said, wandering into the gym. "You're skipping lunch in order to beat someone up?"

'Yes. All evidence points to me being insane. Then again, you're in here."

"True. And I did defeat Chad in an epic popcorn battle in World Religions, today, which might be evidence of my own insanity. On the other hand, sitting in a clinic for a week? I need to get back into shape. So, gym."

"...Wait, before we do anything, you had an epic popcorn battle?"

"Yep. Involving terms of surrender and everything. Cally was filling in for the class."

"Ah. Well, you want to stretch first?"

"Oh, are we going to spar?" Nadia asked innocently, then grinned. "How often do you get a chance to stretch before a fight?"

"Well, I stretched," Pip said. "If you're okay with me having an okay advantage..."

"Hmm. What kind of rules do we want?" As she asked, Nadia started gently and subtly loosening up. "Anything out of bounds? Total improvisation? Straight forward sparring?"

"Gloves," Pip said "Aaand... how about just normal straight forward sparring?"

Nadia rather thought that was boring, but shrugged and nodded. She had given him the choice, after all. She went to grab a pair of gloves and pulled off her boots. "Alright, then. Any areas you're specifically looking to work on?"

Pip pulled on the gloves. "It feels like I haven't gotten a chance to fight in a while. I want to make sure I'm still in shape."
