Cally was very contemplative. So far the reaction to her new powers weren't the rousing 'hurrah' she'd kinda hoped for.

So here she was. Popping individual kernels of popcorn, because she could. Plus, it was really helping with that whole focus and control thing.

Gelmoore Gals and Vanessa Saturn were on tonight, so those were sort of acting as a background to her popping efforts.

Cally gulped. "...I don't think we have demons in the Colonies."

"Should be okay then," Bel said. "But be careful with that. Don't want to let it get out of control."

"I'm totally being careful," Cally said. "I'm not wanting to replicate my whole flamethrower experience or anything."

"So where's this book?" Bel said casually. "Can I see it?" A lot of witches were born with their talents, but some skills could be learned. That fast, though? Something was definitely up.

"I, uhhh, accidently set it on fire," Cally said. "Yeah. Gone. Poof."

"That's a shame," Bel said, not quite buying it. "See what I mean about being careful?"

"Yeah, well, I only learned last night," Cally said. "Cut a girl a little break, huh?"

"You haven't been hit with any glowing orbs of light lately, have you?" Bel asked.

"Orbs? No," Cally said.

"Good," Bel said. "Because that could mean that a power broker was using you to store a power."

"A what-huh-ker?"

"Power Brokers," Bel said. "They're a kind of demon who buy and trade powers. They sometimes use humans to store the powers for awhile."

"Oh," Cally said, cause that sounded... more than a little ominous. "Uhh. What would they look like?"

"They like to dress up like businessmen," Bel said. "Going for the whole Wall Street executive look or something."

"Okay," Cally said visibly relieved. "Nope, definitely not."

"Yeah, you'd be acting all weird and paranoid if it was a power broker," Bel said. "So you're safe from that at least."

"Yeah. Not like I summoned anything to give me my powers, nope. Just a spell. From a book. Yep."

Bel gave Cally a sharp look. "Where'd you find that book?"

"Just, around," Cally said. "You know. Like you do."

"Riiiight," Bel said, crossing his arms.

"I'm not supposed to talk about it," Cally said.

"Says who?" Bel said.

"Nobody," Cally said. "Nobody. I learned this all from a book. Oh look, a three headed monkey!" Cally pointed across the room.
