Dorm Roof, Sunday Late Afternoon

Anders had put in a couple of good solid hours on the Pyramid court, followed by a quick run, after which he'd taken a nice long shower (in his own bathroom, thank you very much) and fixed himself a sandwich.

So with the healthy part of the day over, naturally, he was up on the roof smoking.

Purely coincidentally, Bel was on the roof, too. He'd been feeling increasingly irritable since his return from the Underworld, and he was now chain-smoking to try to ease his mood.

Who knew, really?

Anders didn't. At least, not right away, having been on the opposite side of the roof. But once his leg had gone to sleep from being sat on for too long and he got up to walk it off, he did in fact find Bel surrounded by a growing collection of used butts.

Cally came up to the roof just in time to hear that, see who else was there, and turn right back down the stairs.

Bel failed to notice Cally. But he did, of course, see Anders, and he smirked. "Did you have to take a cold one afterwards?" he asked.

"There were other ways to take care of that little issue," Anders replied, giving Bel a knowing grin. "Can you blame me, though?"

No, he totally didn't just lick his lips at all.

"I bet you did," Bel said, his smirk growing. "Thinking of me the entire time?"

"Maybe that's why I'm smoking right now," Anders said smugly.

"Maybe I should start charging a fee for appearing in your fantasies," Bel said.

"It'd be worth it," Anders replied. "You sure as hell gave me an eyeful the other night, didn't you?"

"And you love every second of it," Bel said smugly. "Just like in Vegas."

"And don't you just love that I do?" Anders put his cigarette in his mouth and took a very long, deliberate drag. "I'd say a nice thing or two about your, uh, attributes, but you sure as hell don't need the ego boost."

Bel drew a little closer. "And you'd just love it if I took you up on the invitation in your eyes," he growled.

"Well, just so we're both clear on that, but I'm not holding my breath," Anders replied evenly.

"Then how come you went crying to Parker?" Bel asked, lazily blowing out a lungful of smoke.

"Who said anything about crying?" Anders demanded. "I told her what happened. That's all. I didn't ask her to go and try to fix anything for me, because there's nothing to fix, all right?"

"She seemed to think you were a poor defensely puppy who needed her protection from the big bad demon," Bel said. Okay, so maybe he was twisting her words a little bit, but he was in the mood to be a little mean.

"What the frak is it with people?" That wasn't how he'd heard it from Parker, but then he wasn't entirely pleased with her at the moment either. "Why the frak does nobody think I can take care of myself, or something?"

Annoyed, Anders pitched his cigarette butt over the edge of the roof and lit up a new one. "I'm not gods-damn helpless even if I am oh so easy to pick on sometimes."

"Too bad," Bel said in a low voice. "Helplessness can be a turn on."

Anders looked at him as if filing that away for future reference -- which would be entirely a matter of perception, as that certainly wasn't what he was doing at all. "Gets to be a pain in the ass after too long, though."

"Then you're not doing it right," Bel smirked. "Unless you're into that kind of thing, too."

"Oh, yeah." Anders rolled his eyes. "This coming from the voice of so much experience, I bet."

"You have no idea what my experience is," Bel said. He grinned slyly. "But I'm sure you'd love to find out."

"Such a tease," Anders said, looking up at the sky and rolling his eyes expressively. "Lords of Kobol, whatever did I do to deserve this?"

"What would you do if I wasn't a tease?" Bel breathed, moving even closer to Anders.

"Well," Anders drawled, not backing down, "for one I might not sleep as well at night, if you know what I mean."
