Third Floor Common Room, Tuesday evening

Enough of the hiding out from everyone. Walter realized he'd been invisible lately, and that clearly hadn't worked on a number of levels.

So, out into the common room where he'd fried up a batch of potatoes and turned on the television, deliberately opting out of the Hitler History Channel and picking up a random improvisational comedy programme.

There he sat with a pile of salty fried potatoes, a panting hellpuppy, and a metric tonne of homework he hadn't been paying sufficient attention to.

Pippi is lured down to the 3rd floor by the siren call of carbs.

"Hey there. Long time no see."

Walter waved a potato at her. "And you aren't seeing me now. I'm a figment of your Walter-starved imagination."

"...and the potatoes?"

Well, it had been a weird day so far, with some ups and downs. Maybe some time hanging out in the common room would swing the balance toward the 'up' side more.

"I smell food," he noted as he walked in, vaulted over the back of a chair, and dropped into it with all the grace of an overweight diplodocus. "Anything good on?"

"Some show with men grabbing styrofoam things and pretending they're moustaches and such."

Walter pushed the plate toward Conner. "Food?" As though anyone said no.

"Hey Conner! Congratulations on getting your hair back to normal."

Having unsuccessfully looked for Walter in his room, but had a nice conversation with Chad instead, Nadia found her way to the common room.

Hey, she had to show off her newly glitterfied immobilizer and hair and pants and . . . er, I won't say what, but damn that chafes!.

"Ahhh. Here we see the wild butler, hard at work preparing the evening meal. . . ."

"As he has discovered that courting his mate with gifts of pebbles is only effective for penguins," Walter added in his best nature show host narrator tone.

"Hey, Nadia," Conner said cautiously. "You're not going to beat me up today, are you?"

Parker eventually focused in on Nadia, then sat up. "Your arm is broken?" She sounded outraged and surprised in equal parts. "And by the way: minion?"

Broots was totally looking where he was going. Which is how he wound up in a common room not on his floor, trying to balance a laptop, type, and walk at the same time.

"Don't trip over that ottoman," Walter warned Broots. "And good evening."

"NOT-GREMLIN!"

Nadia was a little hyper. She might have forgotten that certain teas have just as much caffeine as coffee. And the glitter fight after decorating her sling hadn't helped.

Parker blinked at Broots, and cocked her head when she finally noticed he was there. "You're still alive."

Alphonse arrived in the common room, now finishing the epic journey from his room. "Hey, all!"

"Roomie!" Walter waved a potato at him. A whole potato, not a sliced cooked one. "Catch!"

"Hi, Al!" Nadia waved her good arm. "How goes the alchemy?"

Feeling social, Carmela heads out of her room and to the common room.

"Hey, folks," she says, bouncing over to a couch.

"Hey Carmela." Walter waved a potato at her and grinned as the comedians on the screen began a game of asking each other questions. "How are you?"

"Carmela!" Conner calls, waving at her. "How's it going?"

"Hola!" Nadia bounced, then winced as the movement made the immobilizer shift. "Mental note. Not Blair."

Parker wandered up a floor because she couldn't sleep.

Okay, she'd slept. Had a nightmare. Time to find people.

"Hey," she said to the room at large, flopping down in a chair.

"Hey Parker." Walter waved an uncooked potato at her and nodded toward the plate of cooked greasy yum. "Potatoes?"
