5th Floor Common Room - Sunday evening dinner and Glögg Party

The fifth floor common room has been decked out for Yule. (That includes jødisk jul.)

Pippi has used the provisions that StuCo has the common room stocked with to make something called "meatloaf". Pippi, being Pippi, has made a mind boggling amount of meatloaf.

She also has a punchbowl out which contains totally non-alcoholic Glögg. (Or "Gløgg" if you're Hamlet.) And she absolutely does not have a several small bottles of akvavit secreted in and among the decorations so people can make their cups more... gloggy.

There's also a spread of nuts, raisins, and gingerbread. Pippi herself is at the stove making æbleskiver.

Molly could smell the spices all the way down the hallway. Following her nose, she wandered in. "Hey, Pippi! What's all this?"

"Hi Molly! It's dinner! And glogg!"

Molly peered into the punchbowl. "What is glogg?" It smelled good, whatever it was.

"It's like mulled wine... Except this particular batch doesn't have wine in it." Pippi explained. "Go ahead, try some."

Nadia wandered out of her room for the first time on Sunday when it was already evening. The smell of food probably had something to do with her emergence.

"Hey, Pippi, watcha making?"

"Sounds good," Molly said as she dipped the ladle and poured it into a cup. She took a sip. "It is good. Yummy." She gave Pippi a grin. "What's the occasion? More winter holidays from home?"

"Hi Nadia!" Pippi said as she used a skewer to turn the half cooked little puffs in their little divots on the pan so that the uncooked batter ran down to complete the spherical shape of the treat.

"I'm making able-skeever for dessert."

"Well, more like... the time of year is an excuse to throw lots of parties and this is the sort of stuff we eat during Jul."

"I don't know what that is, but I'm sure it's wonderful. Do you need any help? I can even use both hands, now."

"Yay! That's great!" Pippi grinned. "You can get the meatloaf out of the oven for me actually."

Molly grinned. "That's a good enough reason for me," she said and then pointed to what Pippi was making on the stove. "What are those called? They look like little cream puffs, but without any cream."

"Sure. As long as that doesn't involve heavy lifting above my head, I'm pretty sure we're fine for that." Nadia grabbed some oven mits and headed towards the oven. "So, is this a glogg party?"

"They're called able-skeever... They're kinda like pancakes. But you turn 'em in the divots in this pan so the batter runs down and you get a mostly hollow ball. You usually put fruit stuff in there and dust it with powdered sugar."

"They're really good."

"There's decorations, good company, and glogg." Pippi pointed out. "Sounds like a party to me."

"They sound good," Molly said. "Can I help?"

"Sure! Nadia just got dinner out of the oven so... You could get that ziploc bag of strawberry preserve? Snip the very tip or the corner off of it and use it to squirt some preserves into the hollow bit right before I turn them over to seal them off?"

"I said I would be here," Walter announced from the doorway before coming in to see how he could help.

After chatting with Parker, Willow stopped by. "Hey, Pippi! What's the up?"

"Hi Willow! It's a Jul party!."

"Who's Jul?" Willow asked.

"Jul isn't a who, it's a when. Like... Yule. It's a catch all for the time of year."

"Oh!" Willow said. "Then I am fully behind it. Well I would've been behind Jul's birthday party too, but time of year parties are also fun."

Pippi giggled.

"If Jul was having a birthday around this time, we'd call it Jul Jul."

"Of course she'd probably just call it 'my birthday'," Willow said with a grin.
