Fourth Floor Common Room, evening

Isabel feels a bit silly because she can't remember what floor the coffee bar is supposed to be on. Because it's close to the remaining gifts she still needs to give out to anyone that won't be around for Christmas Day, she goes with the Fourth Floor.

There's an assortment of baked goods and lots of caffiene for anyone still studying. How the Grump Stole the Holidays is playing on the TV and there are more Christmas classics to follow.

"Dude, I love this one!" Jude declared, hobbling into the common room and snagging a cookie before collapsing on a couch, leaning his crutches against the arm as he sang along for a few lines. "You're a foul one, Mr. Grump, your heart's an empty hole . . ."

Isabel laughed, "It's one of my favorites as well."

He chuckled. "Oh man, Christmas specials. Totally the best part of the holiday."

"Well there's a collection," she said, indicating the pile of DVDs. "So I hope you've got a lot of time handy."

"Got nothin' but time," Jude said, leaning over to flip through the titles. "I'm homeless for the holidays."

"Homeless?" Isabel asked.

Jude pointed in the general direction of south. "Yeah, my mom has a buncha vacation 'cause she was really sick a while ago, so my parents are doing this romantic cruise thing."

Tired of studying and wrapping gifts, Dean wandered out to the common room for a break. "Hey," he said as he entered, and glanced at the tv. "That's always been one of the signs of Christmas for me."

"I know," Isabel agreed. "I used to wait for it every year. DVD is so much nicer."

"Yeah," Dean agreed. "No crappy commericals. So you all ready for Christmas?"

"Pretty much hell no!," she smiled. "Everything is wrapped and waiting for Christmas morning."

"Me too," Dean said. "Well... mostly. Had to give Sammy his main gift early because I don't think Scout would've been happy staying in a cheerily wrapped box for a couple of weeks."

"Scout?" Isabel asked. "Hopefully it's something cute and cuddly?"

"Sam's puppy." Dean's grin if anything got bigger.

Alec traveled up a floor, following the smell of food and coffee. He grabbed something to eat and dropped onto the couch, looking at the TV curiously. "Wow, everything's centered around Christmas now, isn't it?"

"Pretty much yes," Isabel nodded. "Isn't it great?"

"I guess," he said thoughtfully. "I didn't know it was such a big thing, so I hadn't paid much attention."

"I've always loved it," she grinned. "I like the tradions. Doing the same thing each year makes me feel like I belong."

"I've never done this before. I think the only tradition I've helped with so far is decorating," he said, grinning back. "I think there's presents involved at some point, but no one's really clarified that yet."

"There are presents involved. Monday morning. You are sticking around for the break aren't you?" Isabel asked, already making plans to go out and find a few things for Alec. Her inner Christmas Nazi was horrified he'd never done this before.

"The song says it's the most wonderful of time of the year," Dean grinned at him. "Not sure I'd go that far, but it's pretty cool."

"Everyone seems to be going all out," Alec agreed, grinning back.

"I'm guesing Manticore probably wasn't big on the Christmas celebrating, huh?"

"I know a lot of the soldiers at the facility went on leave at the end of the year," Alec said, shrugging. "We heard them talking about Christmas sometimes, but that was about it."
