Second Floor Common Room, Tuesday Morning

Because you can only live off of a holiday fruitcake for so long before you start to go insane, Anders had finally ransacked his fridge for the bacon and eggs he'd meant to have for breakfast yesterday, then dragged himself out of his room and into the common room. That took a little effort. Okay, a lot.

So now, armed with a small pot of coffee and more bacon and eggs than anyone should legally be allowed to eat at once (being ridiculously hungry always skewed his concept of proportions) he was leaning against the counter while he ate. The TV was tuned to some show about tricking out cars, which prompted Anders to start mulling over the possibility of tricking out his Glider some more. But there would be absolutely no chrome. No way.

"Burned off a lot of energy." Anders nodded and took a bite of bacon. "Work out until you're exhausted, there's no energy left for being pissed off."

"You so smirked," Cally said. "The 'I got some, isn't Sam Anders awesome' smirk!"

"Yeah, because the weight bench?" Anders replied dryly. "Really hot."

"Yeah, it was the best thing ever -- of course I didn't, do I look like I would treat exercise equipment that way?"

"It's a weight bench," Anders insisted. "That's, like, sacred."

"So's a thick-handled pipe wrench," Cally said. "Doesn't mean I... I said nothing."

Anders smirked again. "I'm remembering that."

Cally scowled at him. "So who'd you actually frak?"

"I told you, I didn't," Anders said stubbornly.

"And you're getting defensive," Cally said. "Look, it wasn't, like... Parker, was it?"

Anders looked horrified. "Oh my gods, are you kidding? She'd eat me alive. Even if I offered."

"Yeah, well, your taste for danger has upped recently," Cally said.

Anders sighed. "Please don't let's start this again, okay?"

"Hey, I'm not accusing," Cally said. "It's none of my business."

"Got that right," Anders replied as neutrally as he could manage, and changed the subject before he dug himself a hole and let on more than he should. "So I put off my shopping until the last minute, and stuff hasn't even gotten here yet, but when it does there's something in there for you."

"Oh," Cally said, fidgeting a little. "I, ummm, didn't get you anything. Yet."

"'s okay, I wasn't really expecting you t -- dammit," Anders muttered as he dropped his fork. He stared down at where it had landed and grimaced. "Oh, this is gonna suck."
