Gym, Cheerleading practice, Wednesday, afternoon (after classes)

Buffy bounced into the gym, looking extremely cheerful and ready to start the practices for the new year. "Hello everyone! I have great news!" She waved an envelope at them. "We're going to our first competition on the 24th of February! Isn't that fantastic? Of course, this means we must train very hard and diligently until then."

Judging from Buffy's expression, this was a good thing.

"Also, on Sunday we have a new try-out session - which I hope you know - so I hope as many of us as possible can be there, and remember to bully badger threaten coerce convince tell all your friends!"

Buffy smiled brightly again and turned on the CD player. Oh Mickey, you're so fine, you're so fine, you blow my mind, Hey Mickey!

She raised her voice. "Today we're going to try something really exciting! Pyramids! Small, light people at the top, strong types at the bottom. It really important that everyone's paying attention and, um, try not to fall down." She chewed her lip a little worriedly, before smiling again and clapping her hands. "Let's get to it!"

Marie smiled. "I really am okay now. Everything has settled down. I'm glad you had a nice trip."

"I'm glad you're alright." She lightened up and smiled too, "so, which courses did you pick this term? Meet any of the new kids? Break any brains yet?"

"I've met a few," Marie said. "One girl knew an alternate version of me that was a superhero. She seemed kind of disappointed that I'm not. But I don't think I managed to break any brains yet. You?"

"Does this mean you'll start wearing your underwear over your tights?" D teasingly raised an eyebrow then winked and grinned. " I'm completely remiss in my brain breaking duties. Though I think that's acceptable behavior for a senior. I broke Zack Addy when he first got here. It's a fine Fandom tradition."

"I think it would be a great look for me, don't you?" Marie joked. "And I guess the fact that I didn't get out and about much the first few days the new students were here might have something to do with why I didn't get to break any brains."

"Absolutely fantastic! But mind the antennas, Professor Dean the Tick might not like students bugging in on his territory." D grinned wickedly. "We totally have your New Year's resolution. Before December thirty-one of this year, you, Marie D'Ancanto, are her by challenged to break at least one newbie brain though completely verbal means."

Marie giggled. "Do you think my kidnapped by evil mutants spiel would work? I mean, technically it didn't happen in Fandom, but it could probably break some brains."

"Totally." D nodded. She was all for confusing the newbies. It was a time honored tradition like the elevator in a one level building or 'the pool on the roof' where there wasn't one. "And tell them that it's a semi-annual thing on the island. That, like, one student a term is carried off, and you're the first to actually make it back to tell the tale."
