The Roof- Thursday Night

Henry managed to make his way to the dorm roof. He'd had a busy week, and needed to relax. He pulled some sheets out of his folder, and opened up his violin case. He tightened the bow strings and rosined them up. The violin needed a serious amount of tuning, due to the climate change. But it was quickly ready. He snapped on a shoulder rest, tucked the instrument under his chin, and started to play. Mozart's first violin concerto in G minor.

Annette finally decided to venture to the dorm roof. She had dressed warmly in her coat, scarf, and gloves, and felt cozy as she walked on out.

The music she instantly heard was lovely; she recognized it immediately, and it drew her to the one who was creating it so beautifully.

She didn't want to interrupt so she stood back a little bit, content to sit and watch him play his violin for the rest of the evening if he so chose.

At first, Henry was too into the music to notice. He had mostly memorized the piece, so his eyes were closed. But when he opened them to check a difficult spot, he saw Annette. He was surprised, and the bow took an ugly dig across the D string. He quickly lowered the violin.
"I'm so sorry!" He panicked. "Am I playing too loud? I didn't know where else to practice!"

Her eyes widened. "Oh my gosh no! I'm sorry...I just heard the music and...I'll leave if you want. I didn't mean to bother you during practice. I'm so sorry."

"Oh!" Henry puts his hands up in a pacifying/halting gesture. "No, no, you can stay if you want. I just wanted to make sure I didn't drive anyone away."

She gave him a small smile. "I can't imagine you would draw anyone away. How long have you played the violin?"

Henry thought for a second. "About... ten years?" The figure seemed to come as a pleasent surprise. "I hadn't thought much about it."

"You are very talented. I enjoy Mozart very much." Annette said easily, moving to stand a little closer.

"I'm Annette Hargrove by the way."

"Thank you very much." Henry gave a little bow. "Henry Jekyll. It's a pleasure to meet you, Miss Hargrove."
Henry mentally chastized himself for the slip. No, they use first names now. First names!

She grinned, pleasantly surprised by his mannerisms. "It is a pleasure to meet you as well, Mr. Jekyll. But I would like it if you called me Annette, and I will call you Henry, if that is all right?"

Henry nods. "Right, yes. I'm so sorry, I've skipped a few years to get here, and I'm afraid some of my customs are a touch out of date."

It was cool out, but nothing too terrible, and with the want to float out of his room for a while Alphonse made his way too the roof-- unsurprisingly with a book in hand, in case he wanted to occupy himself that way.

What he wasn't expecting was someone playing music up there, but he didn't dare interrupt them. Alphonse simply folded his arms behind his back, listening closely. It wasn't any song he recognized, but it sounded nice despite that.

"They are still very nice customs, and really, you may call me anything that suits you." She didn't mean that literally, but he would know what she meant.

Smiling, she asked. "So how many years are we talking about here?"

"I'm from the year eighteen-hundred and eighty-six, in London." Henry responded.

Henry hears someone come up. He's almost to the end of a phrase, so he completes it before turning around. "Good evening." He thinks he recognises Alphonse. "If I'm not mistaken, we're in the same Popular Culture class, correct?"

"Uh-huh," Alphonse responds, nodding. "You were with Setsuna yesterday at the salle too, right? I came in around the end of whatever she was doing and I didn't want to disrupt."

Henry nodded. "Yes. She's going to be teaching me swordsmanship."

"I think she'll be a good teacher. She's very talented," Alphonse said. "Speaking of, you play very well on the violin, yourself."

"Thank you very much!" Henry responded. "It's very kind of you to say so." He frowned, and said, "I'm very sorry, but I've forgotten your name."

"No worries. I'm Alphonse," he replied, then added, "And yes, you can call me Al if that suits you. Most people do, anyway. You're Henry, if I remember right?"

After being properly horrified in Yuki-san's office, the twin's thought a little air might help cleanse their minds of his horrible and filthy comments.

They had to agree, the violin was really helping in that process. So, they sat to the side to watch and take a nice breather.

"Indeed, Henry Jekyll. It is a pleasure to be properly introduced, Alphonse." Nicknames might have been a bit too much for Henry. Best to work towards it.

It took Henry longer to hear the twins, as he finished the movement. Though he wasn't using the music much, he stopped to turn the page. Then he spotted them. "Oh, good evening."

"Likewise," Alphonse said. "I'm guessing since you're in that class, you're not from anywhere around this time either, huh?"

"Hey." They remain seated and wait for him to continue. It was a definite pacifier for them.

Ye gods. His roomie was on the roof. Walter was actually surprised.

"Al! Did Pup and Cuddles chase you out?"
