The roof, rather late Friday night

Nadia was in a mood. Her therapist was leaving, she'd yelled at Chad for not wanting to talk when God knew she knew how he felt, and the buzz of performing with Teal Dear had left her rather quickly.

So she was on the roof, despite the fact that it wasn't exactly warm out, and she had her guitar. She was picking away at it, occasionally strumming a hard, heavy chord, and trying to think of lyrics.

She was going to write a song if it killed her.

[ooc: it's a roof. they tend to be open. No walls and the like.]

Lucas was still getting used to the new time zone, so he wasn't anywhere near ready to be sleeping yet. He decided to head up and see if there was a way to get on the roof. Living on a submarine didn't lend itself to being able to see the sky every day.

He hadn't intended on interrupting anyone, so once he was there and saw the girl and her guitar, he stopped short. "Oh, sorry, didn't know anyone was up here." He turned to go.

Lucas turned back around. "I'm Lucas. If you're up here all the time, they must let you videoconference your classes." Weak joke. Really weak joke.

"Really?" As soon as he asked, he realized it was a stupid thing to ask. "Don't answer that." He came closer and sat on the ground, pulling his hand away pretty quickly because of the cold. "What are you playing?"

"Very cool," Lucas said. "If I'm interfering with the creative spirit or muse or other thing, I can go."

"Okay." Lucas didn't know what was so funny, but he figured it best not to ask. "So, where are you from?"

"All over. Most recently SeaQuest. It was a submarine."

So far, the submarine thing was definitely a winner with impressing people. "A really big submarine," he said, nodding, "Over a thousand feet long."

"I was part of the crew. Civilian, but they let me on the bridge when I was working. I was part of the science team, helping out on the current mission, fixing things that nobody else knew how to fix or working with the ship's dolphin, Darwin."
