Cheerleading Practice, Wednesday, after classes, Gym

Buffy was ready and waiting for the cheerleaders today. She was smiling and bouncing a weetiny bit. "Hi all! I thought we'd practice lifts today, so everyone team up and try this."

She waved for Alec to join her. He obediently did so. He lifted her up until she could spread her legs around his waist, then lifted her over his right hip, then his left. He finished by throwing her across his shoulders, letting her slide down in front of him again. She beamed at him.

"Thank you Alec. Everyone get that? Great!"

ooc: wait for it. The move Buffy and Alec showed looks more like a Swing dance move than anything else. Or something figure skating couples would do.

"Never, ever, ever drop the spirit stick. If possible? Never even go near the spirit stick."

"...Spirit stick?"

Dios, cheerleading was weird.

Nadia shrugged, sitting back. "Don't ask me. I just know that Marie asked me to hold it at a game once, and didn't bother telling me until after I dropped it that it was bad luck. Next thing I knew? I was a gremlin, wandering around biting people, until the game ended."

Spirit Stick = baaaaaaad. Duly noted.

And it confirmed Chad's previous assessment that cheerleading was weird.

"Considering the fact that when I first tried out, I was convinced that Walter and I were evil spies and chasing after Pippi and Al, who were our spy enemies, in order to either steal or blow up a mine. . . . I'm probably lucky I managed to even get the mascot gig. And I'm pretty sure I get to keep it, since no one else is willing to even put the mask on,"

Yeah, Nadia was now babbling. Give her a break, she's been under a lot of pressure, lately.

Chad was used to being babbled at; he didn't mind. The more Nadia talked, the less he figured he'd have to.

He scratched his head a little. "So, the whole evil spy thing....is that directly related to you trying out? Or just something that was goin' on while you tried out?"

"Well, I'd wanted to try out, anyway. But that wasn't what the spy wanted to do. She realized the judges were watching her while she was trying to sneak after Pippi--she was really bad at sneaking--so she did a little cheer routine. With a really bad accent. It . . . was pretty ridiculous." Nadia leaned back farther so that she was almost lying on the ground. "Congratulations, by the way."

"For what?"

"Makin' the team," Nadia answered around a yawn. "Duh."

Chad grunted. Thought of Teddy making fun of him about the whole thing came flooding back to him. And, no, the offer of him wearing a cheerleading skirt was not helping, unless that shapeshifting stuff was involved. "S'that really something to congratulate me on?"

Nadia pushed herself up on her elbows and frowned at him. "Well, it was something that I couldn't do. And male cheerleaders are hot. And they get to spend lots of time with stretchy, hot girls in skimpy outfits. And if you didn't want to be a cheerleader, why did you try out?"

"If I weren't male, I wouldn't've gotten in," Chad pointed out to her. "An' I only did this 'cause Pippi wanted me to."

Nadia let herself flop back down onto the floor. "Then quit, if you don't want to do it."

"I can't quit," Chad said, with a forceful grunt of determination. "It'd hurt Pippi's feelings too much..."

And then Chad noticed that Nadia seemed to have flopped back a few times and frowned with a slight touch of concern. "You feelin' okay?"

"Fine," Nadia mumbled. "Then just suck it up and enjoy yourself already."

And a few moments later, she was snoring softly.

"Uh, Nadia?"

Chad poked at her.

Not a whole lot of reacting to the poking, there. She did stop snoring, though. For about a second.

The poking escalated into light shaking. "Oi. Nadia."

That got a grumble from her, and one eye opening. "Whaaaaaaaaaaat?"

"Gym floor, not a good place to sleep."

Chad paused, with a frown of concern as he looked at her. "You should talk to Buffy about skippin' today if you're not feeling good. Go get some rest."

Nadia rolled over, frowning. "We've done this," She shook her head. She was getting a very weird, very strong sense of deja vu. "I'm not feeling sick. And I already went to talk to Dr. Wilson about this." She felt like she was acting out a rehearsed script, and shook her head again.

Chad's frown deepened, feeling very confused. "You sure you're feeling all right?"

"How many times do I have to tell you, I'm fine." How many times had she told him, really? Seemed like several. But she was still getting that deja vu.

It couldn't have been more than three. Chad looked at her for a moment, deciding how to handle it. Reluctantly, he nodded. "If you say so. Jus'...don't overdo it. No sleeping on the gym floor, either."

"Alright, alright," Nadia sighed, pushing herself up to a seated position. "I'm not that tired, anyway."
