Third Floor Common Room - Sunday Morning

Aly had woken up very, very hungry. And she didn't want to wake up Mommy. That would be bad.

So instead she was very, very sneaky - she was going to be a spy after all and Daddy said she could be pretty too! - and crept out of the room until she found one of the big rooms with food in there. She was awfully disappointed not to see Bridge making 'paghetti this time or Auntie Parkie with food though.

But there was food in the cupboards. She knew it. And that was why there was a weetiny blond girl carefully scaling the counter to get to the top cupboards where she just knew the good food was kept.

"I hit her good," Aly said with a nod. "She ran away."

Picking up the muffin in both hands, Aly jumped off the counter and hit the floor with both feet and the muffin. She brushed it off cause it wasn't too squashed and decided not to cry cause she was a big girl. Aly followed Zuko over to the table and climbed into a chair, muffin getting more mangled in the process.

"Will you show me how to use swords?"

Zuko glanced at her briefly and took a bite from his muffin.

"If you eat your breakfast," he finally replied.

Aly dutifully took a bite of the squished muffin before saying anything else.

"Trick wants to use swords too."

"Trick is immortal. He has no need for them," Zuko said. "He can watch."

"Mommy says anything you learn is use...good," Aly told him. "S'why I want to learn everything so I can be a spy."

Zuko nodded as she had pretty much told him this already when she was an adult. "Are your mom and father here?" he asked.

She nodded. "Course they are. I didn't wanna wake Mommy up this morning though." Aly leaned in to whisper. "She's cranky in the morning."

"Ah," Zuko nodded in understanding. "Good thinking."

Realising that they didn't have anything to drink, he got up from his chair and headed for the fridge.

Aly beamed at the compliment. She watched him get up and slid out of her chair to trot at his heels and find out what he was doing.

If he noticed, he didn't say anything. He merely pulled the milk carton from the fridge and put it down on the counter. Then he grabbed two cups and cocoa powder from the cupboards and start making chocolate milk. He didn't put it in the microwave, but the chocolate milk was still warm when he handed the cup to Aly. "Careful."

"I will be very careful," Aly said, having watched the whole process very closely. "Jus' like with swords." She took a big sip, leaving a milk mustache on her lip before wiping it off with the back of her hand. "'S good! Thankyou."

Zuko nodded. "You're welcome," he said, taking a sip from his own cup.

She climbed back into her chair only slopping a little of the hot chocolate on herself. "When did you learn how to be ninja," she asked, wide-eyed.

Sighing, Zuko put some paper towels on the table. "What's a ninja?"

"You know! With the sneaky and the quiet and not letting anyone see you!"

"I taught myself," Zuko brushed off the question.

"How?"

"I just did," he said.

She pouted. "You can tell me you don' wanna tell me. 'M a big girl."

"There's nothing to tell," Zuko said stubbornly.

"Y'know, I can tell when you're lyin'," she said complacently, eating the crumbs of her muffin.

Zuko raised an eyebrow. "Excuse me?"

She looked at him with surprise. "I can see it."

He narrowed his eyes at her. "See what?"

"If someone's being a liarhead."
