School Grounds, Then Preserve - Tuesday Night (6:30pm onwards)

Lucas went around and picked up the people he said he would, then headed down to the back of the dorms to wait for the others.

Lucas was here, waiting for everyone to come. Of course, if someone wasn't around by 7, he was leaving without them.

Inside the Preserve, the portal appeared right on schedule. Anyone close by would have felt a sudden warm breeze and seen the area around the portal take an odd tinge. Lucas was busy taking readings. "This is it," he said, "If you want, you can throw something through or poke it with a stick. Just don't get too close."

"I was planning on sending this ruggedized video camera through, but every time it gets close, there's too much interference. But I have a back-up plan. I'm going through."

The portal snapped shut, leaving them in darkness...and with Lucas and Katara still trapped on the other side. Oops? Perhaps it's time to make a plan.

I forgot to post this before I went to sleep last night. So sorry!

Sokka sauntered up a few moments before 6:30. He looked at Lucas and then looked around. "Sooo.... Isn't Katara coming?"

Well, now that he had said that... Sokka put down the stick he had been about to poke the portal with and grumbled a bit. Then he shrugged, picked it back up, and poked away.

Dick showed up, looking a little bored. He hoped this time thingamabob was real.

Irulan arrived precisely at the time stated.

Irulan studied the portal, put her hand up and felt the warmth radiating from the portal. She tossed a pebble in and it vanished. "Curious."

"Hey there!" Sokka called to Dick. "You coming, too? COOL!"

"... Hey, you still owe me some movies, by the way."

Sokka looked at her oddly. He tossed in a pebble of his own, keeping his eyes on her. "Intrigued," he said dryly.

Katara couldn't find a rope long enough and she didn't have time to make one sadly. So she showed up with her coat and bag just before the time set.

"Yes," Katara replied with a grin. "Yes, I am."

Sokka turned to her, startled. "HI!"

He gave her a thumbs-up. "Ready to go?"

"Dude, when I go home for spring break I will come back with more action movies than you can shake a stick at." says Dick. "Promise."

"Cooooool!" exclaims Dick. He picked up a rock off the ground and threw it into the portal, not thinking about what was on the other side. He wasn't about to get too close though.

"AWESOME! Dude!"

She grinned at him. "I thought you had the ears of a platypusbear and you couldn't even hear me coming?" she teased.

Irulan glanced at the boy, "Where do you suppose it went?"

Katara studied the portal for a few minutes, noticing the breeze and keeping a very careful eye on her brother to make sure he didn't decide to come up with a daring plan of any sort.

Finally she pulled a flow of water from her waterskin and, concentrating carefully, sent it through the portal. She was surprised - quite a bit surprised that she could pull it back again without a problem.

"I dunno. The other side, I guess." He poked at the portal again with his stick, probing the edge of it.

"Not the spirit world, I don't think."

"Another time, perhaps?" She speculated.

"MY EARS ARE NOT BIG!!!" Sokka shouted angrily.

"Uh... uh, I mean, no, I didn't notice you."

"That's what he said," Sokka replied, jerking a thumb at Lucas.

He pushed the stick in farther, trying to see if he could use it to feel anything on the other side.
