Rooms 201, 227, and The Hallway In Between, Wednesday Afternoon (after classes)

Anders had gone down to the office to file for an official room change, and as soon as it was approved he ran straight up to the second floor and started emptying his dresser drawers into trash bags, stacking books into boxes, and detangling all the cords to his computer.

Of course, the whole trash-bag approach had been pretty quick, but as he quickly discovered when he started lugging them down the hallway to 227, it was pretty cumbersome as well.

Moving the fridge was going to be fun . . .

It was a simple statement, but from Stark somehow it was exactly what Anders had needed to hear. "So am I," he replied. "I'm trying to tell myself I'll learn from it, but right now it just kinda hurts."

"That's what I'm hoping." Anders looked sideways at Stark, thoughtfully. "Sounds like you're sorta used to this sort of thing."

"Learning experiences that hurt?" asked Anders. "Stuff that hurts so bad you kind of wish you could die even though there's always somebody there to tell you you'll live, and it'll get better?"

"So do I," Anders said. "Soon as I'm feeling up to it, I promise I'll make you cupcakes. For real. Right now they'd kind of . . . making emo cupcakes is probably a crime."

It was somehow very hard for Anders not to say "awwww" right about then.

"It's okay," he tried to insist. "I'll be fine, seriously, Stark. And I wanna make cupcakes for you guys again. Soon."

Stark's expression was very much "seriously, I know better than that."

"You don't have to be fine yet. Or even soon," Stark said. "But you know I won't turn down cupcakes."

"And . . ." Anders chucked a thumb in the direction of 227. "Well, you know where to find me too. I really appreciate it, Stark. So I might be banging down your door OMG so not dirty sometime soon."

He chuckled briefly. "Got a feeling I'll need it."
