The Roof, Thursday after classes

River sat on the roof, a bowl of popcorn and a thermos of hot chocolate next to her. Pippi had suggested a "breakup ritual" consisting of "special brownies" and dancing on the roof during cheerleading practise the day before, and it sounded like a perfect idea. River smiled up at the sky, from which the sun peered through the clouds.
