The Gym - Thursday, 6th period

After their handwavey lesson before cheer practice yesterday, Molly decided that Dean needed another lesson today. She was going to be gone most of the weekend after all and she wanted to make sure he remembered everything he'd learned so far.

After she had led him through a thorough warm up routine, Molly hopped up and eyed Dean. "How about showing me what you learned yesterday." It wasn't really a question. She sat down on the bleachers and gestured for Dean to get to it.

[[OOC: Molly is giving Dean cheerleading lessons. Gym is open for all, but Molly won't let anybody disturb Dean while he is practicing.]]

Dawn remembered what Molly had told her, and she wandered into the gym in a pair of loose yoga pants and a tank top, figuring she could actually work out while she watched Dean amuse himself.

She started the treadmill at a fast walk and made sure she had a good spot to watch.

Molly bit her lip to keep from grinning and waved to Dawn.

Dawn waved back, looking more than a little smug.

Dean rolled his eyes, but ran through the routine that he'd learned the day before. He had the moves down, but there may have been a distinct lack of enthusiasm in his performance.

Molly stood up and put her hands on her hips. "Dean. Do you want to be doing this assignment?" she asked, voice level and quiet.

"Is that a trick question?" Dean asked warily.

"No, it isn't," she said in the same tone and waited for him to answer.

"It's.... not the first thing I'd choose to do this afternoon," he admitted.

"Would you rather just skip the whole thing and fail the assignment?" she asked.

Dean set his jaw. "I don't give up."

Molly raised an eyebrow at him. "But a half-assed effort is okay?"

"I feel like an idiot," Dean confessed.

Molly crossed her arms over her chest. "I'm not going to insult your intelligence by asking what you think of cheerleaders because I'm sure you know what the right answer would be even if you didn't believe it."

"It's different if you're a cute girl. This stuff looks great being done by cute girls," Dean protested. "I'm not a cute girl, if you haven't noticed."

Molly tilted her head. "I seem to recall you pointing out that you look a lot like a certain cheerleader who happens to be a co-captain of the squad. Does he look like an idiot?"

"No," Dean admitted. "But Alec's.... Alec. The usual rules don't apply to him."

Molly sighed. "So guys, other than Alec, who are cheerleaders look like idiots?"

"I didn't say they look like idiots -- although I'm not saying they do or they don't. I'm saying I feel like an idiot."

Molly sighed again. "Is there anything that would help you feel less like an idiot? Because the only thing that will make you look like an idiot is doing it half-assed."

"Not having to wear those shorts," Dean said promptly.

Dean's foot dragging on this was really starting to bug Molly. She put her hands on her hips again. "Maybe you just need to get used to wearing them," she said, narrowing her eyes a bit. "I think... yes."

She nodded definitively. "I'm going to talk to Buffy and see if it's okay for you to come along to the competition this weekend. You will have to wear the uniform, but you won't have to cheer. That will give you a chance to get used to wearing it and you'll get to see what competitive cheerleading is really like."

Dean gaped like a fish and stared at her.

"All or nothing, Dean," she said firmly. "I won't accept a half-assed effort. You either do what I say or we both give up and fail the assignment."

Dean sighed. "Fine. But it would help if I didn't feel like the punchline of a joke you're telling." He glanced meaningfully in Dawn's direction. "If I have to take this seriously, so do you."

Molly blushed a little. But just a little! "That I can do," she said. "As your 'Master'," she used the finger quotes quotes, "I won't let anyone make fun of you. Not even me." She stuck a hand out to shake on it.

Dean shook it. "Deal."

Molly smiled up at him. "Now, do you want to try the demonstration again?"
