Fifth floor common room, Sunday afternoon

Nadia had had some sleep, caffeine, a shower, and food, and was feeling much less ducklike more human by the time Sunday afternoon rolled around.

So she was sitting in the common room, wrapped up in a blanket, staring out the window at the snow and pouting.

On the one hand, she was really glad that she'd gotten back from the preserve yesterday and that Walter didn't have to come get her. On the other . . . Chad was in Mexico where it was warm and people spoke Spanish, and she was here, looking out at a bunch of snow coming down rather hard from the sky.

Not fair. Not fair at all.

Somewhere around 4'ish. Pippi flounces up the stairs after walking up to the school from the portal.

"Hey, Pippi," Nadia gave her friend a small smile. "How was the competition?"

"Hi Nadia!" Pippi chimed. "We won! It was awesome, they were all 'we're from Meat Ranch and we'll smile at you but you don't got a chance' And we're all, "Ha ha! We're the Gremlins Beeeotch!' ... How was your vision quest?"

"They . . . didn't actually say 'meat ranch', did they?" Nadia shrugged. "The vision quest was fine. I got back last night. My spirit animal is a duck."

"Oooh a duck!" Pippi liked ducks. "And no, they said 'Rancho Carne', which I'm told means 'Meat Ranch'."

"Yep. Said that I should be in Mexico with him and he'd kiss me and it'd be perfect."

"I think so. I won't know for sure until . . . well, I guess until I don't fall asleep randomly for awhile. But I really think it did."

"Which means we'd have to find out by him actually going to meet his spirit animal. I . . . don't think he's the sort to do that."

"I don't see him going off in the woods alone, no."

"Hah. Hah. I'm not dumb, Pippi, I know you guys don't think it was a good idea. But I'm fine and it worked. I think."

"Yeah, well. The last time I was out in the woods I wasn't even alone and nearly lost my ability to exist so pardon me for giving a flying rat's pink patooty."

"Would you just . . . stop it, Pippi? Stop your little word games and everything any time we try to talk about anything serious? Yes, you care, I know you do, and I do appreciate it, but I don't appreciate this . . . lecturing, especially when I haven't done anything wrong."

"I'm not even lecturing you. All I said was that I didn't see Walter going out into the woods. And while I was concerned about your being out into the woods alone I never once said or even thought that you shouldn't do it if you thought it was something you should do. I was impressed you felt strongly enough to go out in winter weather. And while I'm glad it helped with the narcoleptic thing I see it's done squat for your crappy attitude."

"You know what? I'm not doing this right now. I'll see you later, Pippi." Nadia got up, keeping the blanket wrapped around her, and headed out of the common room.

Pippi throws up her hands and grabs her bag to go change in 507 to get ready for Bel's service.
