It was Oscars time, which meant, of course, it was time for a party, thrown together at the last minute because Zero had been in editing a lot recently. She had set out an array of handwavey bite-size tasty appetizers, big bowls of popcorn, and an assortment of sodas, water, and sparkling juices.

"Actually he came willingly. He was just very, very bouncy," Isabel chuckled. "And we've decided if he stays this way much longer? We're doing a calender. He was posing for me already."

Sam snickered as Jack struck a pose and waggled his whiskers at her. "I see. We'll probably make a mint with the mouse community," she grinned, "though not as much as if you posed once you're back to normal."

He seemed to be thinking that over, then he grinned at her.

Isabel laughed. "Mouse or not, he can definitely work it. And I'm really scared that I can understand mouse body language as well as I can."

"Jack's never had an issue with body language," she scratched his head as he preened. "What else is going on?"

"Nothing much," she said, not about to get into the Kivar thing. "I spent some time with your little brother the other day. I turned his hair lime green."

Sam giggled. "Poor Peter. What'd he do back to you?"

"My hair wound up with red stripes, and let's not even talk about what he did to my black leather jacket," Isabel said, making a face.

"He ruined a leather jacket?" Sam would have to talk to him about that.

"Oh no, I was able to change it back," she said quickly. "But for a brief time? There was a very tacky gremlin design on it. He figured out how to use my powers pretty quickly."

"Is he okay?" Sam asked, a little concerned. "I haven't seen him lately, and I know he's got a lot going on."

"Oh he's fine," Isabel grinned. "We had a lot of fun and laughed a lot. Of course this morning I had to explain the only power he'd get from Jack would be the ability to flirt a lot. I think he thought Jack was a shapeshifter."

Sam would have facepalmed, except for the mouse currently curled up on her palm, looking cute. "There are other things he could pick up from Jack, but I don't know if they're powers or not."

Sam cleared her throat and ignored Jack's smug look. "I know I'm not."
