Apparently Conner was a glutton for punishment, or something, because here he was, in the common room, waiting for Relic Hunters Adventure Squad to start. He couldn't believe he was actually going to willingly subject himself to that theme song again, but it was sort of like a trainwreck. Besides, Bobbi and Lily were hot.

Also, he wanted to see if O'Reilly was going to be any less of a dork this week. Conner was very concerned with upholding the Red Ranger image. Even if they were fictional representations, see.

"It so totally did. I don't think they explained that. Maybe we're just supposed to assume it's dangerous," Conner decided. "Oh, dude, that puzzle looks just like one I used to have on my keychain!"

"I guess so." It sounded like the right idea to her. Tori raised an eyebrow. "Does it now?"

Conner nodded, sulkily. "Never could solve that thing."

Tori frowned. "Sorry to hear that. You think if you try it now, you'll fare any better?"

Conner thought about this, very, very carefully.

"No."

Tori smiled. "You sure about that? You might surprise yourself." And optimism girl was at it again.

"Yeah," Conner said, playing the role of Skepticism Boy in tonight's performance, opposite Optimism Girl. "Or I might pull something thinking."

Tori grimaced slightly at that thought. "Okay, that wouldn't be good." She laughed softly. "I wouldn't want you to do that."

Conner wasn't sure to be glad she agreed with him or slightly offended that she agreed with him, to be honest. "But at least my keychain puzzle won't make huge freakin' arms come out of the wall and try to squeeze me to death!"

Tori had meant it jokingly, hoping Conner wouldn't be offended. "Seriously. That would just be plain creepy." Tori remarked. She winced. "That can't be comfortable." She didn't want to know what it felt like being squeezed to death.

"Yeah, well, at least it didn't start tickling them . . . although they probably deserved it, goofing off like that." Conner rolled his eyes. "And I'm about to smack Tell for all that 'I work alone' stuff. Why does every Ranger team seem to have that problem?"

"Tickling them, oh geez." That would be worse, in her opinion. "Me too." She shook her head in disapproval. "It must be in the Ranger code somewhere. One Ranger on every team has to not want to work with people... chalk it up to a learning experience or something." Tori rolled her eyes. She wouldn't be surprised if it was true.

"See, if this actually happens to the real team? This is where they need all of us to, like, come in and smack them upside the head for being dumb."

"I will be right there, ready and willing to do that if the need arises." Tori admitted, with a smirk.

"Totally," Conner grinned. "Ranger Intervention. You never know, it might be crucial to saving the world or something!"

"Ranger Intervention." Tori laughed. "I like the sound of that. I think we should turn it into a book, but of course we'd stay anonymous."

"Of course," agreed Conner. He looked pointedly at the TV. "Unlike some people! Okay, so that's not fair to Bridge and Z, 'cause they're official and stuff, but these guys aren't, are they?"

"No, I don't think they are official. Not one bit." Tori remarked, shaking her head at the television and the rangers' display.

"And they have cool gadgets . . . check out that thing with the zip line!" Conner was totally not pouting, except he was. "So unfair."

"They do have cool gadgets!" Tori agreed and was really jealous, now. "Man, why couldn't I have a zip line?" It would've made things so much easier for them. Especially when Cam, Blake and Hunter had to go down to the Abyss of Evil to retrieve their powers.

"Because we're cooler than them and don't need them," Conner said. Not jealous at all. Really.

Tori nodded. "Yes we are." She wondered if she could've jumped across the pit and maybe wouldn't have had to use a zip line. Probably not. "Okay, is Tell seriously banging that against a rock? Does he want to break whatever's inside it?"

"Some pro," Conner said scornfully. "Even I can tell you that you don't go finding ancient treasures from Atlantis and then banging them against rocks to open then!"

Tori shook her head. "Really. I mean, it's embarrassing! I really hope that the real rangers know not to do that." If they exist, that is. "Because if they don't? That's just wrong."

"Yeah, well . . ." Conner flung a hand out in some kind of frustrated gesture at the television. "That's what O'Reilly's dad gets for just recruiting a bunch of people all of a sudden and throwing them into this Ranger stuff without training."

Because, you know, he'd had so much training himself.
