Fifth floor common room, Friday evening/night

Nadia decided being social would take her mind off her birthday thoughts.

So she was in the common room now, instead of her dorm room, staring out at the rain.

This? Totally counted as progress.

"Oh?" Setsuna tilted her head at Nadia a little, leaning on the doorframe, with a skeptical tone in her voice. "You know what it's like to need to track down your rather conveniently missing boyfriend so you can punch him in the face so he can stop thinking he's a damn girl?"

Setsuna paused, and blinked, and moved into the room a little more. "Uh...yeah," she said, still obviously a little surprised. "I would say that's pretty damn close. Huh."

"At least you have Fandom to blame yours on, though," Setsuna said, with a touch of worry. "Mine's a sort of thing I'm afraid would have happened even without the strangeness of this place."

"Only after being knocked unconscious by a physical blow to the head," Setsuna said, sighing lightly. "Which makes me think it's something psychologically wrong with him...Although, really, with the sort of upbringing he's had, that wouldn't surprise me at all if it left him a little messed up in the head..." She frowned as she said it, eyebrows sinking in a bothered expression.

Setsuna shook her head, looking suddenly a little sheepish. "...Sorry."

"I'm pretty sure," Setsuna said, "that, two seconds into a conversation, the last thing you want the person your talking to to go on and on about is her own problems. And, to be perfectly honest, I have no idea why I did because, normally, I wouldn't."

[identity profile] bound2blade.livejournal.com 2007-03-10 06:44 am (UTC)(link)
But Setsuna really didn't want to talk about it anymore, anyway. Her eyes shifted away for a moment, toward someone else in the room, but darted back to Nadia before they could be followed. She drew in a little bit of a breath. Was he the reason she was almost eager to rant about it?

Best not think about that. She quickly tried to think of potentially better, less angsty topics. "Any strange encounters yesterday with all the...guys...changing...?"

It wasn't until she was halfway through it that Setsuna realized it was a horrible, horrible choice of topic, but she kept it on as to not make a big deal out of it.

"Other thi...Oh." As she realized what Nadia was talking about, Setsuna blushed a little, and then, a moment later after it had reddened, found herself asking, "While he was still....? Or....?"

Why she was actually asking this was beyond her; her ability to control herself as well as she used to in these situations seemed to have disappeared entirely lately.

"I see," Setsuna said, quietly.

...Why couldn't Ranma be curious like that?

Or, at the very least, like Alph--

No. Not even going to think about that. Especially while he was in the same room...

"I...I do hope things went well for you, then." The blush certainly wasn't going anywhere, but Setsuna was still trying to pretend as though this conversation was still somewhere within the boundry of common decency.

Setsuna's expression was one of slight surprise. "T...talk him out of being gay?" she asked, confused over if such a thing existed, she certainly wanted to know why she wasn't aware of it, and if one could possibly administer the method to one's self. Because that could clear out about probably sixty-five percent of her problems if she could.

"Oh." Setsuna looked a little disappointed, especially since those days of thinking maybe it was just that she liked girl (singular and specific) as opposed to girls (plural and so broad it almost hurt) were lonnng gone. Eventually, she might be confortable with the notion. Probably not anytime soon, though.

And she also realized that she certainly was doing well at the while trying to think of things to talk to Nadia about that didn't make her just dwell on her own pathetic little problems.

She tried to find something she and Nadia had in common. "So. Spying...How'd you land that Spy Tech teacher's aid position? Something you asked M about, or did she approach you on the matter?"

There. That was a nice, secure, comfortable topic.

...Background checks, huh?

"Interesting," Setsuna said, with a little nod, and perhaps a small tuggin in the corner of her lip for the sort of security she knew to be on her own background information. "Rather appropriate, too, considering the context of the class."
