Fourth Floor Girls Bathroom [Wednesday, Afternoon]

Mac quite liked her room not having fluroescent hairdye all over it, so she and Cally collected up a whole bunch of towels and the other required bits and pieces and dumped them by a sink in the bathroom.

After a moment, she started digging through her different colour options. "You wanted orange, right?" Mac asked pulling out a packet and taking a closer look.

[ooc: Mac and Cally are obviously here for hair dying purposes. Otherwise, post is open to anyone who might want to be there.]

"Orange, exactly," Cally said. "Are we gonna have to bleach the streaks first or something?"

"Need to wash your hair first, actually," Mac said. "Has to be clean before it can be bleached and dyed."

She held up the pack she'd been looking at to Cally. "That colour?"

"Looks perfect," Cally said, pulling out her hair tie. "Washing it I can do, easy."

Mac grinned. "I figured you might be able to deal with that," she said tossing a towel in Cally's direction.

Cally caught the towel and turned the faucet on one of the sinks. "I've managed to wash my own hair for years now, in fact."

"So have I," Mac said with a smirk finding a bottle of shampoo from the pile of stuff they'd brought. "We're obviously very advanced."

"So," Cally said, tilting her head over the sink and starting to wet her hair. "You do this all the time, huh?"

"Quite a lot, yeah," Mac said leaning back against the sinks. "If I didn't, they'd fade after a few weeks, and I kinda like them staying fluorescent. More fun that way."

"They definitely look better all bright," Cally agreed, starting to wash her hair. "So we'll have to freshen these up, good to know."

Mac nodded, unfolding a scruffy looking t-shirt with NYC written on it and draping it over the side. "Unless you totally hate it," she continued. "Which hopefully you won't... probably a good thing we left this until after basic. I don't think the military are big on hair colouring."

"Yeah, that might've gotten me yelled at just a little more," Cally said. "We didn't need to give the drill sargeant any more excuses."

"Was it really as bad as you imagined?" Mac asked, a slight frown on her face as she watched the hair washing.

"Let's just say those movies about boot camp and all that aren't exactly that far off," Cally said.

"... I have this sudden urge to hug you," Mac said. "But, I think that might be best left for when you're not all wet and shampoo-covered."

"But later, you get lots. Extra lots, even. You definitely deserve it."

"Awww," Cally said. "I got through okay. And it's all for that whole 'toughening you up for war' and stuff." She started rinsing out her hair.

Mac smirked a little leaning on the side again. "So you're all hard-ass soldier girl, now?"

"Yeah, if you ignore the fact I flinch when I pull a trigger," Cally said.

"I guess when you're anticipating a big bang, a bit of nerves like that is expected," Mac said. Not that she actually has any experience to draw on whatsoever.

"Need any help?" she offered after a moment.

"I think I got the hair washed," Cally said. "Now I have no idea what happens now."

"Now we vaseline you," Mac said turning to find her pot.

"Dirty?" Cally said out of reflex.

Mac arched an eyebrow, rather amused. "If you find putting vaseline on your face and ears dirty, then yeah."

"And we're doing that because why?" Cally asked.

"Because dye is messy," Mac said simply. "With the vaseline on there you can wipe any splashes off yourself easily. Unless you want orange ears or something... in which case that can be arranged."

"Okay I don't like orange that much," Cally said. "Vaseline me up, please."
