Roof: Saturday afternoon

Miley headed upstairs during a break in the showers, taking her guitar with her. As much as she loved guitar and music class, she missed just singing and playing for fun. Hopefully there wouldn't be anyone on the roof and she could actually play without hiding her voice.

Taking a seat, she pulled out her guitar and strummed quietly before starting in on a new song Hannah song she was practicing.

Tori had been in the mood for some fresh air, so she decided to head up to the roof. Plus? It was a nice view.

"In the end we'd be laughing, watch the sunset." Miley sung. "Fade to black, sing that happy song."

Tori didn't want to startle the girl, when she heard and noticed her singing. She decided to hang back in the doorway, for a minute or so.

"There you go again, talking cinematic." Miley sang happily. "Yeah you, you're charming. Got everybody star struck."

Tori smiled, noting that the girl was really good.

"That's a nice song, you've got there." She spoke up, walking onto the roof. She really hoped her sudden presence didn't scare the girl too much.

"Yea-oh." Miley stopped mid-lyric and jumped a little. "Oh, uh...thanks. It's not mine or anything, just something I heard somewhere or something."

"You're welcome." Tori smiled. "Well, it's a good song. Whoever's it is."

"Really? Thanks!" Miley grinned. "I'm Miley. I don't think we've met."

"Yeah." Tori smiled brightly. "I don't think we have either. I'm Tori. It's nice to meet you Miley."

"Do you play?" Miley asked, holding out her guitar.

Tori shook her head. "No, but a friend of mine from home does."

"Yeah?" Miley asked. "What sort of music are they into?"

"Is everything an option?" Tori grinned. "Because that's what it seems like."

Miley laughed and nodded. "That's good. I'm not quite at the 'everything' stage, but I like a lot of kinds of music."

Tori grinned, "Yeah, it is. Same here."

"What's your favorite kind?" Miley asked, setting down the guitar.

"I guess if I had to choose, it would be a tie between pop and rock." Tori answered after thinking about it for a few moments. "What about you?"

"I like rock and I love pop music." Miley said, suppressing a grin at just how much liked it. "But I've got a huge love for country music as well."

"My daddy's actually on tour right now singing country music."

Tori smiled brightly. "Oh, wow. That's cool."

"It is pretty cool." Miley grinned. "Even though that meant I got shuttled here to Fandom, it is a pretty cool place."

"Oh yeah." Tori smiled. "Fandom is quite the place, isn't it?"

"In a 'oh em gee, I hope my daddy never finds out' sort of way."

Tori nodded. "Oh yeah, I hear you." She wasn't sure how her parents would react, either. Especially with how things were not too long ago, in her hometown.

It was the sound of singing that drew Irulan in, it was a different genre of music she was used to.

Miley kept singing for a few moments until she noticed Irulan out of the corner of her eye. "Hi!"

"Hello." Irulan said, "What song are you singing?"

"Just a little ditty." Miley said vaguely. "Nothing special."

"I have never song that type of song before."

"You're not a big fan of pop music?" Miley asked.

Irulan shook her head, "We do not have 'pop music' in my world."

"That's really sad." Miley shook her head and strummed a few chords on her guitar. "Do you want to hear some more?"

"Please, I would like to hear more."

Miley figured that someone who never even had heard pop music wouldn't have a clue who Hannah Montana was so she didn't bother disguising her voice as she sang.

Irulan listened and as the song finished she said, "Interesting."

"Good interesting," Irulan said with a nod, she wasn't so prolific with people she didn't know. "I appreciate it."
