Gym [Saturday evening]

Rory had immediately checked her messages when she woke up from a nap that evening (lack of caffeine shockingly seemed to make her tired all the time) and headed straight down to the gym.

She didn't really feel like doing much, but she brought her gloves and a bottle of water just in case. When she arrived, she sat down by the bags with her legs folded under her and opened up a book.

"Can't say I blame him. Has he slept?"

"A little, I think," she says, not mentioning that she'd slept on the couch where she couldn't watch him. "I doubt he will for a while."

"Tell him to lay off coffee. It helps," Rory offers and she's only partially joking.

"Yeah," she says absently, but shakes it off. "Luke told me you couldn't have it anymore."

"Not until I'm all better or I snap," she says. "Whichever comes first. I've been sleeping a lot. Oh, and he needs to make sure he eats. You too. It'll just make it worse."

"I know. He's definitely not," she says. "Not that I can tell him to do anything..."

"Well, you can, but he's probably self-sabotaging and it won't do much good," she replies quietly. "Maybe he just needs to spin his wheels until he feels normal and all any of us can do is try to keep him stable."

"That's what I'm trying to do. But I try to give him space and he starts getting insecure about me. I try to tell him what's wrong but he doesn't want to hear it, so I give him space. And we've only been back two days."

"Give it time," she suggests. "Be consistent."

"Yeah," Aeryn agrees. "And maybe everything he needs to hear shouldn't come from me."

"I don't want to upset him more," she says. "I'll talk to him if you don't think seeing my technicolor face is going to make it worse."

"You don't look that bad," she says. "And he'll have a problem with it, but... he might need that."

She nods. "Anyone else you think should be encouraged to talk to him?"

"I'm not sure. I doubt he wants this very public. I'd even suggest Anakin, but John's a bit sensitive to being reminded that it was him, even if it wasn't him."

"I thought of Anakin, too," Rory admits. "I haven't told anyone, by the way. Just Anakin, because he found me, and Luke. I didn't even tell the doctors who did it."

"Thank you. I'm sure John will appreciate it, too," she says.

And she still wants to spend the next few arns beating on the damn bag.

"I think I'm going to head back and take another nap," she says, getting up. And that was true, but she also got the sense that Aeryn might need a little alone time with the bag. "If you need anything, feel free to call or come by."
