5th floor Common room, Sunday afternoon

Tributary was far too loud in River's head, but got even louder when she was upset. Consequently, keeping her happy was a priority when escape wasn't possible. And Tributary wanted popcorn and cookies.

In the common room River made a large pan of popcorn without the lid on, then started making tuna and marmalade cookies.

"Some clones are sheep." Tributary said with a giggle, remembering her daddy protesting something about that. "Are you the sheep kind?"

"No," Tommy said, also giggling a bit. "I'm a person. Grandpa says I was supposed to be in charge someday but dad says I don't hafta."

Tommy nodded. "Grandpa talks about the Man sometimes when he hasn't had his medicine. He says the Man's the reason he got crazy and hurt my dad. Mommy doesn't like the Man either, but she says Grandpa's not to listen to."

"Da-" Tributary clapped a hand over her mouth and glanced guiltily over her shoulder. "I mean, Down with The Man!"

She bounced and gave a little fist pump when she yelled.
