5th floor Common room, Sunday afternoon

Tributary was far too loud in River's head, but got even louder when she was upset. Consequently, keeping her happy was a priority when escape wasn't possible. And Tributary wanted popcorn and cookies.

In the common room River made a large pan of popcorn without the lid on, then started making tuna and marmalade cookies.

"You're little! It's not allowed. Mommy never lets me play with any of her axes!" Tributary pouted. "Can I hold it?"

"I'm not little! I'm almost six!" Kagaku stomped his foot. "And I'm a ninja, so I'm supposed to have weapons. My Papa gave them to me!" He held out the shuriken. "...You better give it back, or I'll hurt you."

"Wanna bet?" Tributary narrowed her eyes, taking the weapon carefully. "Mommy taught me to fight and I'm really good and I'm more almost six than you prolly."

"How do you throw it?"

"Nuh uh. You're just a little kid." Kagaku smirked, looking very much like both of his daddies. "You throw it like this. Duh." He took out another shuriken, throwing it so that it embedded into the wall on the other side of the room.

"Whoa." Tributary watched carefully and then did the same thing, cheering when her star embedded right below Kagaku's in the wall.

"It's easy," Kagaku sniffed, brushing his hair out of his golden, cat-slit eyes. "Kunai are harder." He held out one of the knife-like weapons. "But they're still easy."

"Mommy has an ax that's thiiiiis big." Tributary's arms were spread out wide. "She took it off a reaver and it's really hard to use but she's the bestest at it."

"Ninja don't need really big weapons. Especially if they're really good ninja. My Papa can kill people with just his hands and his chakra, and my Father's the best ninja in the whole world!" He looked very smug. "Bet your Mommy isn't as good as either of them."

[identity profile] smalltributary.livejournal.com 2007-04-15 08:46 pm (UTC)(link)
"Bet she is!" Tributary said firmly. "She can beat up ten men twice her size with no weapons at all. But she needs the ax to cut their heads off."

Kagaku shook his head, still overly smug. "My Papa can do that without an ax. He uses chakra. Because he's smart. And I know you're littler than me because you aren't allowed to have weapons. Only little kids aren't allowed to have weapons."

"You're mean." Tributary glared. "When my Mommy finishes making the tuna and marmalade cookies you can't have any!"

"I don't want any of your stinky cookies anyway!" Kagaku stuck his tongue out at her - thankfully, he didn't have his father's jutsu for making it long and creepy. Yet.

Tributary stuck her tongue out as well and then bounced back to the kitchen.
