Just outside the dorms: Sunday afternoon

Jack had stepped outside for a bit -- he needed some fresh air and a chance to clear his head. Two kids, and the existence of an apparent alternate universe where he was playing happy families - and apparently enjoying it - had weirded him out to the point he needed a minute or two to himself.

He walked away from the door to the dorms, circling around benches and trees, watching the ground while he tried to process.

[Jack's here for - wait for it - a kidlet! But open, though he'll be leaving once she arrives.]

Most kids would panic when they opened their closet door and suddenly found themselves transported somewhere else. But Alexandria M. Evans Harkness took it in stride. After all, when you were part alien, your favoritest uncle was a wizard and your daddy was a Time Agent, there really weren't too many things that could phase you.

Alexandria - never Alex or Lexie or any other nickname, thank you very much - looked around, surprised when she recognized the castle in the distance from pictures her mommy had shown her. It was the castle where her mommy and daddy went to school. It was a good a place as any to start looking for them.

She grinned, a grin that grew even wider, and even more like her father's when she recognized the dark haired man standing outside of the building. Blonde hair streaming out behind, she raced across the park and tackle hugged the father she'd never met.

Jack staggered under the impact, because he'd been paying exactly zero attention, but caught his balance and automatically hugged the kid back. "Careful there, kiddo," he said, crouching down so he'd be on her level. "You don't want to go around hugging strangers."

He already had a bad feeling about this, but she was adorable, and he grinned and tugged on her ponytail. "Not everyone's as nice as me."

"I know that," she said, giving him an exasperated look that Jack might find oddly familiar. "My mommy told me not to talk to strangers. But you're not a stranger."

It did look vaguely familiar, as did the tilt of her chin, but he couldn't quite place it as the bad feeling got stronger. "I'm not?" he asked, deliberately letting his eyes go wide with surprise, trying not to grin as he teased her. "Well, who am if I'm not a stranger? I've never met you before."

Alexandria knew he was teasing the way big people did to little kids, but she still smiled. "I've never met you but I know who you are. You're Jack and you're my daddy."

The bad feeling crystallised into certainty, and her eyes looked just like his, but he couldn't stop himself from asking, very gently, "What makes you think I'm your daddy?" He might be wrong, after all. This could be another Aly-type incident.

"Because my mommy told me," Alexandria said, looking disappointed because he didn't believe her. "When she showed me pictures of you."

Jack responded to the obvious disappointment by hugging her. "Okay, that makes sense," he said, which was so far from anything resembling the truth he almost laughed. "What's your name, sweetheart?"

"Alexandria M. Evans Harkness," she said primly, although the prim tone was offset by the enthusiastic way she hugged him.

Isabel. He hugged her tighter, giving in to the urge to laugh. This day couldn't possibly get more surreal. "Of course you are. Welll, your mom is around here somewhere. Do you want to go and find her? I bet she'll be surprised to see you."

Alexandria nodded, trying to squeeze him even harder. "Yes please, I'd like that. And maybe Aunt Parker and Uncle Cedric to?"

It made sense and god she looked like Isabel, the resemblance becoming more obvious with every minute. "And Aunt Parker and Uncle Cedric, of course," he promised. "Want a piggy back ride?"

Eyes wide, smile bright, Alexandria climbed onto his back, clinging tightly. "Giddy-yap!
