4-25, Wednesday Afternoon, Cheerleading Practice

Rikku hurried down to the gym in time for cheerleading, hoping that someone, anyone, would have an idea why her boyfriend was suddenly a cat. Was it cat day or something!?

She set kitty!Jude down in the bleachers so she could help to set up the tables. And hoped he wasn't going to wander off or anything.

It took Chad a really long time to respond to that. Because that kind of internal meltdown from cuteness overload was not recovered from quickly.

He fought down the urge to pet him. Somehow, petting your exboyfriend as a kitty in front of his girlfriend just seemed wrong.

"Do you know why he's a," cute, adorable, Dios mios, most mellow kitty ever, "kitten?"

Rikku shook her head quickly, still flailing. "No idea. One minute Jude, next minute, cat-in-a-toque. I, uh, I'm guessing this isn't just some weird Jude-thing I just haven't heard about? Like, he never ... spontaneously ... turned into a cat before or anything? It's some weird Fandom weirdness thing?"

Rikku nodded. "Yeah. Fandom thing. I mean. Just. Weird. You know? Boom, kitty, and ... weird."

She stared at the Judekitty, who stopped purring long enough to take a long kitty yawn. And stared more.

"Okay, and if he gets any cuter, I think I'm gonna blow up."

Rikku nodded emphatically. Seriously, you couldn't hold that against someone. The Judekittycute was powerful and all-consuming.

"He licked my nose," she said in an awed tone.

"Rikku," Chad said, in a slightly warning tone as he lifted his hand. "I have to ask you to stop." He didn't want to think she was actually trying to kill him with adorable.

Rikku looked over at Chad, and then couldn't help giggling. "You're not seriously trying to resist the cuteness here, are you? That's just gonna make your head blow up faster."

Chad lowered his head to give Rikku as serious and dire a look as someone with hair in his eyes could manage. "It wouldn't be a problem," he told her, "if you didn't stand there talking about Jude-kitty nose-kisses."

Rikku giggled harder. "Hey! I survived getting them, you can survive hearing ab- oh my gosh, is his tongue sticking out?!" She knelt down again and started scritching his chin. "That's it, I am keeping you."
