The roof, Monday night

Nadia had spent part of her day trying to save Jamie from . . . himself. She'd spent the other part of it saying goodbye to Walter. She'd managed to hold it together pretty well while she dug out her bottle of rum from beneath her bed, mostly by carefully not looking at anything in the room but her bed. Now, she was easing her way to a good, hard drunk, and the strong facade was falling apart.

Pip, Pippi, Walter, probably Jamie, all gone off. Veronica was on the other side of the continent, and Marty and so many of the others were graduating soon. Sure, she was going off with the Doctor, but. . . .

She'd finally found a home, here in Fandom. And now most of the people who made it home were gone, and she didn't know what that meant for her.

She just knew it hurt.

So she sat on the edge of the roof next to Bel's garden, drinking rum straight from the bottle as tears silently slipped down her face.

[ooc: it's the roof, so naturally it's open. But fair warning, the emo is strong with this one.]

Anders had slipped away for a little while for a smoke, and gone up to the roof.

He spotted the familiar figure by the garden and made his way over -- oh, frak, that was right, with Walter leaving today it would've . . .

"Santos?"

Nadia quickly swiped her hand over her face before turning to offer Anders a . . . very weak smile. "Hi, Anders,"

Anders crouched down beside her and smiled with a little more strength in return. "I'd ask how you're doing but that'd kind of be a dumb question."

Nadia nodded, sniffing. "A little, yeah. But that's okay."

"Well, in that case . . ." Anders considered for a moment. "This is where I take a page out of my ex's playbook and just offer you a hug, I guess."

"Thanks. . . . I'd like one. And you can have some of the rum, if you want."

Anders leaned over to give her a nice big hug -- hey, he hadn't dated said ex for eight months without picking up a trick or two in the hug department. "I'll pass on the rum, but thanks."

Blair had said goodbye to Walter earlier so he figured that the roof would be the place to find Nadia. Seeing her on the ledge, he headed over, dropping next to her. "Hey."

Nadia took a small sip of her rum before answering. "Hey, Blair."

"I brought ice cream." He dug a pint out of his backpack and held out a spoon to Nadia. "Don't worry, it goes well with rum."

Nadia gave him a slight smile. "Thank you. I'd like that."

"No problem." Blair was silent for a few moments as he lifted the lid of the ice cream container and used his own spoon to take a bite. "Wanna talk or just eat ice cream?"

Nadia shrugged. "I think . . . I think if I try to say it outloud, I'll just cry more."

The trek back from the preserves and the subsequent conversation with his original had pretty much left Jamie drained.

When he came back to the room and saw Walter's stuff gone and Nadia not there, he knew where to find her.

"Hey."

Nadia glanced up. "Hey. You're still--sorry I couldn't--I had to--"

Wow, if she kept this up, she might some day even manage a complete sentence.

"It's okay," Jamie said as he slowly sat down next to his roommate. "If it wasn't for you and the rest, I wouldn't be here right now."

"What happened? Did he leave?"

"For now," Jamie said looking a little tense. "I'm going home for the summer. After the cabin blew up and me shoving a gun in his face I think he got the concept I didn't want to be reabsorbed."

". . . That would do it. But at least you're not . . . gone. I've had enough of that."

Tori had wanted some fresh air and the roof seemed the best place to get that.

She made her way onto the roof and noticed her big sib. "Hey Nadia."

"Hi Tori." Nadia looked up, not bothering to hide her tears, this time. "Want some rum? Only, I don't have any cups."

Tori took a seat next to her, shaking her hand. "I'm okay thanks. You're definitely not okay, though. I was going to ask but I think I know the answer."

Nadia looked down at her feet. "He's gone. I guess I kept thinking we could put it off."

Tori nodded, hoping Nadia wouldn't mind a hug from her. She knew what it felt like, thinking of when Blake left. "I'm sorry." It was all that she could think to say.

Nadia didn't mind a hug at all. And that was all Tori really needed to say.

She just hoped Tori didn't mind if her shirt got kinda wet with the hugging.
