JACKALOPE CABIN, EARLY MONDAY MORNING

Cordelia creeped as quietly as she could into the cabin.  She'd been out all weekend discovering DC, and staying in a hotel with a room bigger than the closet she was currently assigned to.

She hoped she didn't wake anyone up.

In Jo's case at least, it'd be a bit hard to wake up someone who was already wake and halfway to being caffeinated. "Morning," she said. "You'd be Cordelia?"

A guilty grin covered Cordelia's lips. "Guilty as charged. I was hoping there wouldn't be any early risers."

She sat down on a nearby chair and ran her hand through her hair. "So you know my name, but I don't know yours."

"Got back in the habit since I don't have to keep the hours around these parts I did back home," Jo said with a grin. "Wasn't too hard to guess, I already know what Turtle and Miley look like, and I doubt anyone's going to mistake you for a John anytime soon. I'm Jo."

Cordelia had a bad feeling in the pit of her stomach, similar to one she got when she was around Buffy. Still she smiled. "What kind of hours are you accustomed to keeping, if you don't mind me asking?"

"Roadhouses don't exactly keep to nine-to-five hours do they?" Jo asked. "Plus hunters get pretty rowdy when they drink."

Cordelia breathed a sigh of relief. "Oh, thank goodness, you're just a bartender. I thought you were going to tell me you were some sort of crazed, emo "I-have-a-destiny-I'm-the-only-one-who-can-kill-the-demons" kind of person," she said with a bright smile.

Jo snorted. "You can't kill demons," she said. "Only send them back to Hell."

Cordelia arched an eyebrow and waved her hand. "Whatever. You're just not one of them, right? Because I'm up to here with blonde girls thinking they're the only ones who can save the world." She put her hand above her head as she walked across the room, towards the coffee.

"Hunting isn't a destiny, it's a life," Jo said. "And you're not trying to save the world, just the people in it."

Her back turned to Jo, Cordelia rolled her eyes. How could people be so darned serious all the time? Still, she turned with a smile. "So, does hunting as a life allow for any social interaction?"

"Enough," Jo's smile turned into smirk. "Pity most hunters don't use it to get good at their poker faces."

"Well, enough is better than none. Maybe you'll come out with me sometime, and we'll live it up right." Cordelia's eyes flashed with excitement. "I should totally get all four of us together."

"Sounds like it could be fun," Jo said. After all, she hadn't hustled pool in a while.

Hunter heard noise from the other side of the cabin and decided it was his Job to Check It Out.

"Mew?"

"Awww!" Miley bent down and held out her hand. "What a cute kitty!"

Clearly a human of taste and discretion. Hunter sniffed her fingers delicately.

"I wonder who you belong to, pumpkin." Miley said, waiting till he had sniffed her fingers before trying for ear scritches.

Hunter closed his eyes and began to purr under the ear scritches. This cabin thing seemed to be working out for the cat.

"Awww." Miley melted at the purring. "I'm gonna have to find some cat toys for you to play with, pumpkin. You're just too cute."

Miley had grabbed her guitar and was planning on heading outside to practice. Looking at Cordelia creeping in, she grinned. "Late night last night?"

Cordelia looked from the girl with the coffee cup to the girl with the guitar and arched an eyebrow.

"Late weekend, actually. I mean, it wasn't my decision to be here, so I figured I'd get to know my surroundings and make the best of it."

"Not your decision to be in the cabins or here at school?" Miley asked, leaning against the wall.

Cordelia tilted her head sideways and smiled. "Both. One crazy girl stalks me, and my parents want to pack me off. And now I have to live in something smaller than a closet."

"You got stalked? Are you like a celebrity or something?" Miley asked, a little hopeful. "The cabins aren't so bad. We get to room with cute boys."

Cordelia waved her hand and made a face. "Not a celebrity--yet. I need to graduate first. But just some crazy girl at school who was like jealous of me or something."

Cordelia's spirits rose. "We have boys in the cabin? Cute, non-losery boys?"

"That sounds like no fun. Why was she jealous of you?" Miley leaned in and nodded. "Very cute, non-losery boys."

"Because she wasn't as pretty and popular, obviously," Cordelia answered the perky, smiling girl with the guitar, enjoying being the center of attention.

Another smile crossed her lips. "Well, I can't wait to meet these boys. Maybe I won't have to leave campus so much." Cordelia gave the guitar a once-over. "So, now tell me about you. Are you Miley or Turtle?"

"Obviously." Miley said, really hoping that this girl wasn't like Amber or Ashley back home. "I'm Miley, Miley Stewart, nice to meet you."

Cordelia repeated the name. "Miley." She said it again with a smile. "Miley. That's really a pretty name. So...you're not being held here against your will?"

"Thank you." Miley grinned and shook her head. "Not exactly. My daddy sent me here while he's on tour because it's supposed to be nice and safe. It wasn't my first choice or anything, but it's not all that bad."

Dean came looking for Hunter. "Hey girls you've seen a little grey furball?"

"Morning, Dean," Jo said. "Hunter? I think he's around here somewhere. Or did something happen to Alec?"

Dean snickered at the thought. "No, last I saw him, he was very much 100% human. Or transgenic. Whatever. I'm looking for the other creature that purrs when you pet him."

Cordelia's eyes immediately shot from the coffeepot to the origin of the male voice. "Oh, hello, salty goodness," she said to herself.

She flashed her brightest smile. "Hi, I'm Cordelia Chase, and you are?"

"Dean Winchester," Dean said, giving the newcomer a grin. "Welcome to Jackalope."

"I have to say, I'm certainly impressed with the welcoming committee," Cordelia said, flipping her hair over her shoulder, smiling her most flirtatious smile.

She turned to Miley and smiled, whispering, "Boy, were you ever right."

"We do our best to impress," Dean teased. "So what do you think of Fandom so far?"

Cordelia tossed her hair once more and smiled at the guy teasing her. "Keeps getting better all the time."

Cordelia finished her coffee and smiled at everyone in the living room. "Well, this little 'get-to-know-you' session has been super fun, but I need a shower. And a nap."

And she closed the bathroom door behind her.
