Curupira campfire - Monday afternoon

Without any workshops today, Molly had slept late. She'd tried to be lazy and stay in bed longer, but her mind had started going and she knew she would make herself cry if she thought too much.

So, she'd made herself get up. After singing along to the radio kind of loudly while she got showered and changed, she grabbed some food and headed out to sit by the fire pit. On her way out, she stopped by her alcove to grab a hat. At the last moment she changed her mind and went out with her head bare.

She sat on the steps and tilted her face up to the sun. Hopefully someone would come along and keep her from thinking too much about the people she already missed.

Buffy came back from lunch carrying french fries in a small basket. "Hi Molly!"

"Hey, Buffy! How's it goin'?"

"Pretty good! I just had lunch with Mikey and Donnie and a new girl named Charlie," Buffy said happily. She sat down next to Molly. "What have you been up to?"

"Meeting new people, mostly," Molly told her and stole a french fry. "Except not yet today. I just got up not too long ago."

"You don't have any workshops today either, huh?"

"Nope!" Molly said with a grin. "None on Friday's either."

"Me neither, but I have work on Fridays. Don't eat all the fries," she added. "They're for Bertie."

"Oh! I'm sorry," Molly said. "I'll stick with just the one fry then. I wouldn't want to deprive Bertie of his fries." She grinned. "Where do you work? I didn't know you had a job."

"The Magic Box. It has, well, magic stuff," Buffy shrugged. "I don't know so much about it, but Mr. Giles is nice and I get money! Oh, I need to get together a bunch of people and go shopping for summer clothes some time soon. Wanna come?"

Molly shrugged. "Sure!" She couldn't afford to buy much, but it would be fun to look. "Can we invite Dawn and Katara too?"

"Totally. I'm going to ask Annette too, I think. She said she did all her shopping online, and that's just boring."

"Cool! Any idea when you'd want to go?"

"Um. Not really? Next weekend? What do you think about going to DC?"

"Next weekend works for me. And DC would be cool," Molly said with an excited grin.

"Yay!" Buffy grinned and got up. "I have to go feed Bertie now. Talk to you later!"

"Bye, Buffy. Tell Bertie I'll stop by later to say hi."

Tannim had planned to spend the afternoon in his cabin reading the new Strifenova Celestial tie-in novel, but it wasn't where he'd left it that morning. After a bit of searching, he discovered it out behind Salamander cabin, pecking at something in the dirt. He stared at it.

The book noticed him looking and scuttered away. He finally caught up with it at the Curupira campire.

Molly raised her eyebrows at the book as it ran toward her campfire. She blinked at Tannim when he caught up with it. "Is that a book for a workshop?" she asked curiously.

"No, just a book for reading," Tannim said. He picked up the book and showed her the cover, feeling rather dorky.

Molly smiled at the title. "That's a cool show," she said and took a careful look at the book. "Um, if it's just a normal book, why did you have to chase it down?"

"I have no idea," Tannim admitted. "Maybe it's cursed?" A corner of the book twisted around and pecked sharply at Tannim's hand. "Ow!" he exclaimed, dropping it.

Molly sprang forward to grab the book before it could get away again. "Weird curse," she said, holding the book by the corners so that it couldn't repeat its escape attempt.

"I am fully in agreement," Tannim nodded. "I wonder if it's a book thing? Or a sci-fi thing? Maybe someone doesn't like what they did with Cara Sparta this season."

"I wouldn't put it past some of the fans," Molly said with a wry grin.

The book seemed to have settled down so Molly slowly moved her hands until she was just holding the book by the spine. It ruffled its pages so she gave it a pat. The book made a contented 'chuck chuck'-ing noise so she repeated the petting.

"It seems weird that they'd curse the books though. Or does this one follow the plot of the show pretty closely?"

"I don't think so. But maybe it's a curse on all Strifenova Celestial items," Tannim said. He wondered if his action figures were battling each other - or clucking at each other - in his dorm room.

Molly laughed. "Could be, I guess." The book had calmed down a lot so she slowly held it out for Tannim to take.

Tannim took the book from her gingerly and stroked the spine, similar to the way Molly had been doing it. "Thanks. You know, I've seen you around, but I don't think we've actually met. My name's Tannim."

"I'm Molly," she said with a grin. "I've seen you around, yeah."

"Very nice to meet you, Molly," Tannim smiled. "Thanks for the help with my book."

"Not a problem. It was nice to finally meet you, too."

Naminé didn't have any classes until Tuesday, so she decided to spend Monday afternoon exploring a little. She had her sketchbook with her in case anything particularly intriguing caught her eye.

A few cabins away from her own, she noticed the girl sitting on the steps and nodded lightly with a nervous smile. She wasn't trespassing or anything, was she?

Molly smiled back. "Nice day, huh?"

"It really is," Naminé smiled. "The weather here is rather pleasant. Is it always like this?"

She stopped for a moment, blushing slightly. "This isn't my cabin, I hope I'm not ... intruding."

"Not at all!" Molly assured her. "Come and sit down in you want." She gave Naminé another smile.

"The weather isn't always like this. Sometimes it's warmer, sometimes it's colder. I'm Molly, by the way."

"I'm Naminé. And thank you." She sat down carefully, then smiled again. "It's very nice to meet you. Oh, are you from this world? I suppose I should have asked that, first."

"I'm new here, but I suppose you can tell. We probably stand out a little."

Molly chuckled. "The new people do kind of stand out, yeah. I'm sort of from this world. My home is mostly the same, like, all the major stuff? But it's an alternate version. What about you?"

"Nowhere near here," she said cheerfully. "That was one of the reasons I wanted to come. Is your home nice?"

Naminé considered for a moment. "Someone named Katara mentioned that, about alternate realities and timelines. It made me feel a little better." She shrugged. "I know someone here that should know me, but doesn't."

"My home's nice. Warmer than here, but I like it here well enough."

Molly grinned when Naminé mentioned Katara since she, Molly, had helped explain alternate realities to her, Katara.

She nodded. "That happened to my friend Dawn too. There were several people that she knew when she got here, but they didn't know her."

"My home ... I suppose I don't have one, not really, but where I'm from is cooler, just a touch. It feels a lot like here when the day's finished and just before night sets in. That late afternoon breeze?"

Naminé considered. "Is Dawn all right? I think I scared Roxas. He thinks I'm crazy now."
