Platypus campfire, very late Monday night

Coming back from Caritas, Annette's cell rang before she could make it to the cabin. Sighing at seeing who it was, she wandered over to the campfire and sat down in a lounge chair. Slipping off her sandals, she drew her knees to her chest and pressed her bare heels against the edge of the seat.

"Hi mom."

"Why haven't you called lately?"

Annette was still feeling the effects of her drinks at Caritas and was not in the mood to be drilled.

"What? I called yesterday."

"..."

She rubbed her temple.

"Annette, are you lying to me? I was home all day yesterday, young lady."

"Mom, that hurts."

"Hrmph. I think that school is teaching you bad manners." Annette listened as her mother clinked ice cubes into a glass.

"Mom are you drunk?"

Gasp! "Annette Hargrove, how dare you-"

Click.

"Annette? It's your father. Your mother does not drink, how could you even suggest it?"

"Guess what, dad? I'm living in a cabin with seven other people."

"The hell?"

"Yeah and it's co-ed and everything. And we have a campfire and I met a big talking turtle the other day."

"..."

Hee hee hee.

"Annette? Are you doing drugs?"

"Daddy how many times are you going to ask me that?"

"Until you tell me the truth."

"I am not a LIAR!"

"Don't you dare raise your-"

Click.

"Annette, sweetheart, calm down darling. Do you need to see a doctor? A special kind of doctor?" her mother asked.

"..."

"Really Annette under the circumstances-"

"I'm sleeping with my boyfriend."

"..."

Click.

"Annette? It's your father. What the in the sam hell did you say to your mother? She just dropped to the floor like a ten pound bag of potatoes."

"Daddy? I think you should check what she is putting in her drinks. K? Love you, bye!"

Sighing, she closed her cell and dropped it to the ground and just stared at the fire. "Man, what a day."

(it's late Monday night, but open if you like.)
