Basilisk Campfire; Wednesday Evening.

So Chad'd spent the day painting the walls of Empire red...and pink and yellow and rainbow, playing with Melody's pussycats, and then doing the cheerleading thing. This explained why, as Chad settled around the cabin's campfire with his guitar, he was playing the manliness metal and rock he could manage on just a bass.

Chad grinned, and then the grin sort of just went into a happy smile, because he didn't like fighting anyway. He was glad Katara had it under control. "When you do, lemme know, 'cause I gotta see that."

"So how was Japan?" Katara asked. "Did you guys have fun? Did Teddy like it?"

"It was...okay," Chad said, truthfully. "Seeing everyone was great, but they...didn't all take to Teddy too well. And there was this...think..."

"...this thing?" she asked, studying him carefully. "And they should have liked Teddy! Unless he got all overtouchy again. ...did he?"

"Naw, not overtouchy, but..." Chad realized that talking about the Hollows that attacked would be easier than talking about this. "Um, us...being together isn't really...all that culturally acceptable in Japan. Everyone was cool with it, I mean, but...was weird for 'em. I kinda understand. But then the Hollows attacked anyway, an' I had to spend the last day or two in the clinic..."

Not that he minded. It was the only time he hadn't actually escaped Kurosaki Clinic before he was done. Having Teddy as a nurse sort of change his perspective on being bedridden.
