Cally was sitting there, stoking the fire she'd built with a stick. She didn't have anything to roast or anything, she just had wanted a fire.

And now, she was going to sit there and enjoy it.

Mac wandered out settling down beside Cally. "Pretty," she commented leaning out a little to warm her hands on it. "And warm. Campfires gain this whole experience bonus points from me."

"Wow, something I learned in basic paid off," Cally said.

"They probably wouldn't have sent you there if they didn't think something useful would come of it," Mac theorised, sitting back again. "Didn't you ever have to do this last summer, though?"

"Well, see, I usually didn't manage to pull off such a good fire, last yeah," Cally said. "I just sorta improvised."

"Improvised?" She had to ask, really.

"Like... threw logs together and hoped, really," Cally said.

"The one time all those yearly Mackenzie camping mystery tour came in handy," Mac said. "I can actually throw together a half-decent fire if forced."

"Well, I won't ever force you," Cally said. "Just in case you were worried."

"I wasn't. Really," Mac said, grinning and leaning in to give her a quick kiss.

Cally smiled, a lot. "Well, just felt like making it very clear."

"Point clearly made," Mac assured her. "First week of camping going well, other than in a good campfire building capacity?"

"Yeah, first week is going well," Cally said. "It's really nice having only one day of workshops."

"I really should've made the most of that kind of opportunity, instead of spreading them all out over three days."

"See, we need to coordinate our being slackers better," Cally said.

"We really, really do," Mac agreed. "You'd think we'd have learned how to work that after all this time."

"Well, it wouldn't be fun if we didn't have something to work on," Cally said. "It adds... variety. Or something."

Mac smiled, slipping her arm through Cally's. "See there had to be an upside to our scheduling issues somewhere," she said. "Trust you to be able to find it."

"Mmmhmm," Cally said, leaning her head against Mac's shoulder.

"You're awesome, see," Mac said in her ear. "It's just in your nature."

"But not as awesome as you," Cally said.

Deciding that fighting that was probably not worth the effort, she paused. "Wanna share that title of 'most awesome'?"

"Okay, that's a compromise I can accept," Cally said.

"Good." Mac grinned at her. "I wasn't quite sure where I was going to go if you didn't, actually."

"Me neither," Cally said. "But we compromise good."

"Another natural talent," Mac agreed snuggling up against Cally.
