Outside Platypus Cabin, After Classes

John knocked on the door of Platypus Cabin. He was there to pick up Annette for pie.

"Oh, look, you're here! Mmmm pie let's go!" She might have been trying to hurry John from the cabin. Not because she was being sneaky or anything, geeze. She just wanted pie.

"Hey! I hoped this was your cabin, but I wasn't sure. I wonder if it's any different from mine" John looking past Annette into the cabin.

"Yep, it's mine. You are a great guesser. I bet you'd be good at charades." Uhh.. "Yep, probably looks just like yours." She wasn't tall enough to like block his view or anything, even when she stood up on her tiptoes. But she had to be polite, right?

"Did you, um, want to come in?"

"Nah, I'm ready for some pie. Where's this place we're going? And don't just say 'in town.'" He knew she would if he left the question too open ended.

She stepped outside and closed the door behind her with a soft click. Grinning, she said, "J,GOB and it is in town."

John smiled, "See! That wasn't so hard. I've been looking forward to pie all day." John limped a little as he stepped away from the cabin.

"Of course it -- why are you limping?"

John grimaced, "I...uh," he considered lying. "I got kicked," he muttered under his breath.

Annette heard him well enough but still shell-shocked enough to ask, "You got kicked?" Pursing her lips, she moved to crouch before John's legs and looked up at him, "Which one?" Oh, yeah, she wanted to see the bruise and would lift his pant leg herself. She bet she knew who kicked him too.

John was totally embarrassed. He lifted his pant leg and showed Annette the giant purple bruise on his shin. "Yeah, a girl in my cabin kicked me. Technically, with reason," he admitted. "But it was a bizarre comeback."

Oh, that made Annette mad. She knew exactly who kicked him and she was mad. She was more than mad. Standing, she placed her hands on her hips and stared up at John. "It was Turtle, wasn't it?"

John was surprised, "Yeah, how'd you know?"

"Because that girl has kicked me twice now, ugh! Why did she kick you? Did you look at her wrong or something?" Turtle needed to be taught a lesson, yes she did.

"Twice! Wow - what'd you do? I tugged on her braid as a joke," John explained.

"And here I needed to go shopping for foodstuffs and her store's the only place to buy. Not a good move on my part, I'm thinking," he added.

Annette didn't do anything to deserve a kick, honest. "We played tug of war over a bench in the park and I won. Turtle didn't like it. She kicked me. And one time she was doing handstands or trying, and I just thought I'd show her how to really do them." Annette sort of remembers things the way she wants to remember them. "I can't have my legs messed up anymore. Maybe we need to cut her braids off when she is sleeping."

She smirked, "Turtle has the uncanny ability to be nice when you are in her store spending money."

He shuddered at the thought of another kick, it hurt! don't judge! "That sounds like a plan if we could ensure no injury."

John smiled, "We should go to her store together after pie, safety in numbers."

She snorted, "Injury to her or us? Cause to be honest that little upstart has caused enough injury to my precious body. And she has incurred my wrath tenfold now that she has hurt you. Oh yes. Turtle Wexler must pay." Annette could be deviously wicked.

"Oh, yes! And while we're in there, let's pile a bunch of stuff on her counter to buy, then decide we don't want any of it."

John laughed, "I mostly fear injury to us. You don't have to lay your wrath down for me, Annette." He didn't want to cause any real trouble.

He grinned, "But we can totally play in the store a little."

"No injury to us; I will protect you, John. I got skillzz." Yes, she liked saying that.

She smiled at him, "Playing is always fun, especially when we are full on pie.

John rolled his eyes and joked, "Yes, I'm sure you could protect me with your witty banter and mad glaring skillz."

"I need some good cream pie to make my leg feel better," John declared.

"What? I have glaring skillzz? I so did not know that!" she teased, but really, she had glaring skillzz? Was this bad? Was this good?

"Cream pie sounds so good. With lots of whipped cream. Oh, John, do you think you can walk to town? I mean, as much as I want pie, I don't want you to contiue hurting your leg. Want a piggyback ride?"

"You do have glaring skills, it's kinda cute." He was amused.

"I can walk just fine, but a piggyback ride could be fun! Think you can hold me?" He moved to stand behind her and put his hands on her shoulders, feigning leaping onto her back.

"Oh. I will try to direct them elsewheres. And next time I glare at you or around you...somehow? You have my permission to smack me."

Uhh. Annette was little but hello? She was a cheerleader! Of course she was one of the ones tossed into the air, but that so doesn't matter right now.

She bent her legs and angled her arms back, "K, I'm ready, John."

John laughed loudly, "No, really. It's twenty minutes to town. If I get tired halfway, then I'll take you up on the offer."

"Okay, John," she shrugged a little, grinning. "But I'm thinking it's your loss."

"I'm sure it is, but there are squirrels around here somewhere..." he looked around, "who are just dying to give your boyfriend a reason to dislike me." John was pretty sure it was true after some of the things he'd heard on the radio.

Oh, that surprised her. It amused her too. "He knew I was going out on a friendly pie date and he didn't care. Dick is pretty mellow. You'll see when you meet him." Course Annette didn't tell Dick who she was going on this little pie outting with.
