Friday morning, 4th floor common room

Ami had gotten Billy's phone call yesterday evening and was thus worried. He said it was a family thing, and well, she now knew enough about his family to be worried. Having woken up fairly early and unable to go back to sleep, she had made a pot of green tea (Talking to Karal the previous day had put the thought in her mind) in the common room and was now attempting to do some Calculus problems, and failing.

Adam was up early, even though he didn't have any workshops today. It was just something that was engrained into his system.

Wandering into the common room in search of something to eat, Adam hadn't been expecting someone else to be there. "Oh, good morning." He smiled, hoping he hadn't startled her.

"hmm?" Ami said looking up from her notebook. "Oh good morning!" Yet another person she had not met previously.

Adam smiled, making his way over to the cabinet to grab a glass. "Sorry if I interrupted you."

"Oh no [problem at all. I couldn't' concentrate anyway. Would you like some green tea? I just made it a few minutes ago." Ami grinned and gestured to the tea. "I am Ami by the way, i do not think we have met?"

"Oh, sure. Thank you." Adam smiled warmly. "I don't think we have. I'm Adam, one of the new students, if you couldn't all ready tell." He chuckled. "It's nice to meet you Ami."

"Nice to meet you as well" Ami smiled. "So, how do you like the craziness so far?"

Adam chuckled. "I'm enjoying it, really. I've met some great people and my workshops are... well, things I hadn't expected to be taking when I first got here."

"Yes,this school is not very big on normal classes" she gestured to her notebook "Hence the correspondence courses on my part. But the people here are what makes the place awesome."

"No, it definitely isn't." Adam agreed, with a small smile. It was fine by him, though. "I'm starting to figure that out, yeah." He nodded, totally agreeing with her.

"I must say i am hopeful there will be Math next year. But i find it unlikely."

"There could be. Although, it might be applied to something out of this world, because that's how the classes seem to work." Adam shrugged, wondering if there were any so called 'normal' classes taught.

"Mmm, true, there was a lot of Math in the Engineering class..."

"But then again, there could be a normal math class... maybe?" Adam suggested hopefully. "We'll just have to wait a see."

"Indeed. Are you staying for the fall term?"

"I am, yes." Adam nodded, smiling. "I'll be starting my junior year. How about you?"

"I will be a sophomore, i think ti is called. 2nd year of High School."

"Yeah, you're right." Adam nodded, grinning. "That's great. I'm guessing your first year here was quite an experience?"

"I was only here for the second term" Ami said, sipping her tea "But yes. There was an Alien abduction." she shuddered slightly at that.

"I heard a little about that." Adam frowned. "Not exactly something I'd want to experience."

"You really don't no. But on the other hand, all the adults turned into kids. And then we all turned into kids. And then our kids from the future visited."

"Okay, I hadn't heard about all that." Adam's eyes widened. "Kids from the future? Wow."

"I think they were only possible kids, but it was quite surreal." Ami said, remembering Akira fondly.

"Oh, okay." Adam nodded. "Yeah, I imagine it was."

Ami grinned. "Yup. So, what brings you to this lovely island in Virginia?"

"That seems to be the question of the month." Adam chuckled, grinning. "I wanted to get away from home for a little." It was the truth, only not the entire truth.

"Cool. I got sent here while my mother works in the United States."

"Oh, neat. What does she do?"

"She is a surgeon. Someday i will be a doctor just like her."

"Oh wow." Adam was impressed. "That's great, I bet you'll make a wonderful surgeon."

Ami chuckled. He had just met her after all. "Thanks. What do you want to do after school?"

"You're welcome." Adam had a sense about these things, that's all. Or maybe it was just his optimistic outlook. Who knows?

"I know I want to go to college, but as for what I want to do? I have no idea."

"good thing you have time, right?" Ami said smiling. Seh had never had a time when she did not know she wanted to be a doctor...

"Definitely a good thing." Adam agreed, smiling brightly.

"Plus, with all the weird classes this place has, one can always get the opportunity for a career one never even knew existed beforehand."

"That is very true." Adam hadn't considered that, but then again it could happen.

"there are classes on magic, and flying spaceships and stuff."

"Yeah, I'm hoping they'll have another flying class. I'd love to try that out."

"Me too actually. Maybe in the second summer term?"

"Yeah, hopefully." It would be fun to try out.
