Third Floor Common Room, Late Sunday Evening

Rikku had no idea why she was up. She should be tired, but she wasn't. Go figure!

Luckily, her Monday class wasn't until after lunch, so it was okay if she stayed up late. She'd even remembered to bring snacks this time. Lots of sugary goodness and crunchy stuff.

The TV said it was a Movie Monster Marathon and Rikku was learning all kinds of stuff. She felt like taking notes. She'd have to ask someone later if any of these creatures were real or not. Most of them weren't anywhere in Spira, that was for sure.

"Horrible movies," Rikku said, offering him some chips. "But fun in their badness. I had to learn about that. Pretty neat."

"Mikey loves movies like this," Donnie said, taking some chips carefully in one hand. "They definitely have a sort of goofy charm. And an air of 'did someone actually think this was a great concept?' most times. Do they not have them where you come from?"

"Nope!" Rikku announced. "We don't really have movies or anything. Uh, I'm from Spira, and you've never heard of it, but we don't have a whole lot of neat technology stuff, 'cause the Yevonites suck. And I'm an Al Bhed, which doesn't matter, 'cept if you were from Spira you'd be all 'Oh, an AL BHED?!' and a jerk about it so I keep bringing it up in case someone here does know about it so they can just freak out and get it out of the way. And Mikey's rooming with the Jude-dude and I tooooootally made myself look like an idiot in front of him."

"Huh. Well, what's it mean, being Al Bhed?" He asked curiously. "And what happened with Mikey?"

Rikku shrugged. "It means we had to go live on our own island and people were mean to us 'cause we didn't follow their religion. And we were right anyway, so it was really dumb. And then people hated each other just to hate each other, that kinda thing? It really sucks. Hundreds of years like that. Spira, uh. Spira's not a whole bag of fun or anything."

And then she blushed, giggling. "Uh, see, Mikey's roommate is kinda ... my, uh, boyfriend? And he didn't used to have a roommate, and he didn't tell me he had one now, either? So I stopped by and knocked on the door all, uh, thinking it was ... Jude?" Okay, she was more or less bright red. "So I was kinda stupid and flirty and, uh, it was Mikey, instead, and ... yeah. He was cool about it, though."

"I'm sorry to hear that," he said quietly. "People are pretty terrible to each other throughout history for the dumbest reasons, even here on Earth."

He smiled at the explanation and made a note to ask Mikey about it later. "You flirted with him? I should think he would be very okay with being flirted with, yeah."

Rikku nodded. "It's ... it's better now. It's okay. I don't wanna be all, you know, oh, poor me, or whatever, 'cause it's just people being stupid and people get that everywhere. I just, uh, didn't want anybody to not now and then find out later and yell at me." She shuddered a little at that last bit.

And then laughed again. "Yeah! I, uh, I didn't ... I was on the other side of the door, and I thought, uh. I was all 'excuse me, I'm in desperate need of some smoochies, can I get your assistance' 'cause, uh, Jude didn't have a roommate before and ... he was kind of all, 'I ... don't really know you?' and I freaked. And then I apologized and flailed around a lot and I'm sure he thinks I'm crazy. But I think maybe I am, so that's okay, yeah?"
