Third Floor Common Room, Late Sunday Evening

Rikku had no idea why she was up. She should be tired, but she wasn't. Go figure!

Luckily, her Monday class wasn't until after lunch, so it was okay if she stayed up late. She'd even remembered to bring snacks this time. Lots of sugary goodness and crunchy stuff.

The TV said it was a Movie Monster Marathon and Rikku was learning all kinds of stuff. She felt like taking notes. She'd have to ask someone later if any of these creatures were real or not. Most of them weren't anywhere in Spira, that was for sure.

"It was a pretty castle but I didn't see any rope going to the castle," Mel admitted. "In fact I didn't see any rope at all. Maybe it's a metaphor for something."

"Maybe the rope's, like, in a museum now. Some guy used it once and then it got commemorated, famous and historical whatever. Or maybe you're right." She considered. "I'm not sure what rope would be a metaphor for. Just by itself like that, I mean."

"Mebbe the rope was like a unifier thing," Mel suggested. "To bind different people and countries together. Or maybe the guy who name it was a perv."

"Oooh, I didn't think of it like that. A Rope That Brings Us Together. Maybe, like, the whole area was lots of different people and they were bickering and it was supposed to be symbolic and made them stop fighting." She bit her lip. "Although knowing people, they probably do anyway. They're good at that."

"Hell. All the fighting I saw this weekend? I know they still do," Mel said with a little smirk.

Rikku grinned. "Sounds like a good weekend. I haven't gotten to fight anything in ages."

"Hell. Most of the fighting I saw wasn't even with the vampires."

Rikku shook her head. "There were vampires in one of the movies earlier, but they seemed kinda weird. Is that like it is with zombies? Why do they have monsters in them if they're gonna do it wrong?"

"Probably for entertainment value," Mel said with a shrug. "Plus I doubt they've ever had to deal with an actual monster before."

"They should get, like, people like us to help out. Consulting or whatever. 'For five bucks, I'll tell you what you're doing wrong with zombies.'" She munched on some chips. "That'd take a while. Maybe I should charge ten."

"You know these movies make like millions," Mel said before seeing the quality of the current one. "Okay this one may be in the thousands but I think you can charge more than ten."

Rikku giggled. "Yeah, but from what I've seen of directors, I don't think they care enough to pay more than ten."

Valenteeeeen sure wouldn't.
