Fifth Floor Common Room, Tuesday Evening

Once again, there were appetising scents emanating from the fifth-floor common room. Ronan was in another cooking mood. This time, it was the rich and spicy scent of Mexican -- well, technically Tex-Mex -- food, grilling chicken, sweet chilies, and a dash of cumin, with sliced bell peppers and onions in another pan. Ronan was still chopping and preparing, but already on the counter was an array of tortillas, and various moddable toppings that people might wish to put on their fajitas.

"Hey, Charlie. It's going," Z said with a shrug. "Ask me again on Friday. After Flight."

"Oooo, tough class?" Charlie asked, trying to remember who'd talked to her about it. "Isabel and Tannim are in that one, I think. And Johnny."

"Professor Skywalker can be kind of...brusque." It seemed the most politic description. "And I think he expects more of me because I took his workshop last year." Z shrugged.

"Ooooo," Charlie winced, then looked curious. "Is he related to Luke? And that's too bad. Is he the type to cheer up if you bring him an apple?" She held up her fajita, then took a bite. "Or a fajita?" she added after swallowing.

"I might try the apple," Z said thoughtfully. "A little bribery never hurt anyone. And, yeah, he's Luke's dad." Even though he looked really young for it. Z didn't ask a lot of questions about Luke's family, and Luke did her the same favor.

"Hunh. I wonder if that's weird or fun, having your dad teach at your school?" Charlie tilted her head, then remembered, "Dean and Sam's dad teaches here too, doesn't he. Hunting? Or something?"

"Yeah, he's teaching my firearms workshop. And Alanna's daughter teaches here, too, but I think Alanna left before you got here." Z waved one hand about in a vaguely explanatory manner as she said, "Time weirdness."

"Time weirdnes...? Oh! Like you and Naomi and Bridge being from the future. Oh, that *has* to be weird. Didn't Alanna freak out?" Charlie wasn't planning on having kids, ever, so it didn't apply to her. But wow. Very very weird.

"I dunno, Alanna and I weren't exactly tight," Z said. "But I would."

Charlie shook her head. "Time travel and transformations. I'm starting to believe what I hear about this school-- Karal's horse turned into a boy last weekend. Very sweet, but wow. Not at all normal."
