Fifth Floor Common Room, Tuesday Evening

Once again, there were appetising scents emanating from the fifth-floor common room. Ronan was in another cooking mood. This time, it was the rich and spicy scent of Mexican -- well, technically Tex-Mex -- food, grilling chicken, sweet chilies, and a dash of cumin, with sliced bell peppers and onions in another pan. Ronan was still chopping and preparing, but already on the counter was an array of tortillas, and various moddable toppings that people might wish to put on their fajitas.

"Cool! I can make five things, but spaghetti is my best one," Charlie said, carefully folding cheese into her tortilla. "What got you inspired?" She took a bite and rolled her eyes, mmmm'ing loudly.

"To cook?" Ronan asked. "I've always enjoyed it," he said. "For as long as I can remember."

"Cool. Oh, and hey, I didn't get your name," Charlie said, perching on one of the chairs and taking a happy bite of her fajita. "Ohhh, this is good. Marinara meat sauce, next week, I promise."

"Oh! I'm Ronan," he replied. "Ronan Nolan." He smiled warmly. "And I would definitely appreciate that."

"Sure," Charlie said, trying to remember where she'd heard that name... Oh! "You were the guy Johnny glittered with, that time he was a little weird, right!"

Ronan paused slightly before replying, "Yeah. It was this weird... glitter thing." He was saying nothing more on the subject.

Satisfied that she'd placed him, Charlie observed, "I'm finally getting the hang of who people are around here. Maybe it's the smaller space in the dorms, or maybe I've just been here long enough. Are you new too?"

Ronan nodded. "For the summer session, yes. Although I'm pretty certain I'll be staying on in the fall, now; I'm rather growing to like it here."

"Cool," Charlie said approvingly. More food! Also, cute accent. "I might be staying. I don't know yet. It's all up in the air."

"That's cool," Ronan said. "At least you have the option there, right? Better than being told no right off the bat."

"That's what I'm hoping," Charlie said, getting herself a drink. "They should know by August, either way." And whether a scholarship was possible. "Why are you going to school here? If it's not too personal."

Ronan shrugged. "Not really. I kind of got sent here, kind of decided to do it. It seemed like a good idea at the time, anyway." He grinned. "And I'm glad I did come."

"Me too," Charlie said. "It's nothing like I expected, but it's miles better." She curled one leg underneath her. "And there's good food!"

"Why, thank you," Ronan said. "I'm glad I can please."
