Fifth Floor Common Room, Tuesday Evening

Once again, there were appetising scents emanating from the fifth-floor common room. Ronan was in another cooking mood. This time, it was the rich and spicy scent of Mexican -- well, technically Tex-Mex -- food, grilling chicken, sweet chilies, and a dash of cumin, with sliced bell peppers and onions in another pan. Ronan was still chopping and preparing, but already on the counter was an array of tortillas, and various ~~moddable~~ toppings that people might wish to put on their fajitas.

(OOC: Hey, he's cooking again. Come feed your characters. Open to ALL. :D )

Marco waved. "Random new girl who I don't yet know!"

"Random not-new guy who I've never met yet!" Charlie said, waving back. "Have a fajita. The Nomadic Celtic Chef is on a roll. But not cooking rolls."

Marco held up one hand with a fajita and grabbed another one with his other hand all the while grinning. "Rolls are good. I'm Marco, not Polo."

"I'm Charlie, good to meet you," she said, taking a bite of her fajita. "And yup! Ronan's roll includes fixin's, so I'm all for it." She sighed contentedly. "Although I think I have to pay him back in spaghetti now."

"You can pay me in spaghetti too!" Marco helpfully pointed out.

Charlie snickered. "Are you going to make me fajitas? Or rolls? Or fajita rolls? Ooo, or sushi?"

"Sorry, don't do raw fish, but how did you guess that I'm from California? I make a mean peanut butter and jelly sandwhich."

"I didn't, but yay, California. I guess you'll just have to give me a sandwich, or benefit from the excess of spaghetti generosity that the fajita payback's going to generate," Charlie said, taking another bite of her fajita.

"One sandwhich for pasta coming up." Marco said with a straight face and pretended to hand Charlie a piece of paper. "Redeamable for one PB&J."

Charlie bowed in her chair and gravely took the imaginary piece of paper, then snickered. "Cool. How long have you been here? At the school, I mean. Although I don't remember seeing you around before, but then, that's true of a lot of people for me."

"Got here in January. Came straight from 2000, no passing Go, no collecting 200 dollars. Got turned into a vending machine for two weeks, then caught a cold. You?"

This kind of conversation is almost familiar now. "Got here last month with the newest students, same time period, same planet, and I haven't been turned into anything. Yet. Although a friend's horse got turned into a boy on Saturday?" Then she paused. "Vending machine?"

"Yeah, I kinda have bad luck. But I was a broken vending machine, so no sold kidneys or anything." Marco said matter of factly. "Your friend has a horse?"

"Good to know," Charlie said, a little weakly, then recovered. "Yup, Trenor. He's down in the stables, a real sweetie. Not exactly bright as a human, though." She shook her head. "I think he qualifies as the weirdest thing so far. Even the gremlin-bit people just seemed kind of high."

"I haven't actually scene a gremlin. I figure they're just something the upper class men scare us newbies with."

"Oh, they're scary all right. Luke and Gavin got turned into Siegfried and Roy," Charlie shook her head, smiling a little. "And they thought Luke's robot was a tiger. And then someone got it on tape. I'm hiding in a closet if that happens to me."

Marco paused for a second before he burst out laughing. "That's just...that's perfect!"

"Scary! But really really really funny," Charlie giggled, taking a sip of her drink. "So, you're from seven years ago? That's kind of random. Are you catching up on all the newest TV way in advance?"

"Hell yes! TV, video games, IPods, pop cutlure, the works. When I get home? Tormenting my friends." Marco didn't point out that he already did that.

"Heh. Will they believe you? About this place?" Charlie asked.

"Yeah, they'll believe pretty much anything. This one time? I totally kicked ass of this huge T-Rex." More like the he ran screaming from it...

Charlie's eyes got huge. Johnny had done stuff like that, and so had Dean, so... "Seriously? How? Do you have superpowers?"

"Kinda? I am super." Marco beamed at her. "I have a thing I can do."

Charlie grinned back, entertained by his attitude. "Yeah? Show me?"

Marco considered this. "Stop by the common room tomorrow night. See if you can figure out."
