The Roof, Thursday Evening

Tori hadn't really done much today, except show up to the workshops she was TAing for. So she was now up on the roof, keeping an eye on the storm that was approaching.

It looked like rain and she wouldn't mind being caught in it.

Haku felt rather confined in his own room and had headed out exploring. Seeing the oncoming storm clouds, his mind paralleled Tori's and he headed up to the roof, smiling seeing someone else there.

"It looks like a good storm."

Tori smiled, glad to see someone else thought the same way. "It definitely does."

"Do you think there will be thunder and lightning as well?" He asked, going up to the raining and scanning the horizon.

"I'm hoping there will be." Tori admitted, smiling lightly. "I love watching thunderstorms."

"Me too," Haku admitted with a smile. "We didn't get them often in the country I'm from. I'm Haku by the way. I don't think we were ever introduced."

Robin had heard about a storm coming, and he headed up to the roof for the second time today to watch. For no other reason than his mun thought it was cute than a bit of Muppet eccentricity, he was wearing a weetiny raincoat. Cause he's a frog see, and rain shouldn't...nevermind.

"Oh, that's too bad. We had some really intense ones back in California. I'm Tori. No, I don't believe we were." Tori smiled. "You're in the Building a Better Fighter workshop." That's where the familiarity came from.

Tori spotted Robin and couldn't help but smile. He was utterly adorable in that raincoat.

"Hi, Tori right?"

"Hi Haku." Robin waved to his room mate. "How's classes?"

"Yes, I am, even have the beads in my pocket to prove it." Haku smiled and leaned on the railing. "The Country of Rain is supposed to have typhoons, but my partner and I never made it up that far."

"Yes. How are you, Robin?" Tori smiled brightly.

"Hi Robin!" Haku smiled seeing his room mate. "They're going really well. How about you?"

"Also well. I had some catching up to do in history though, since I missed last week."

"I'm great, how about you?" He hopped up on the ledge so he was up a bit higher. "I can't wait for the storm!"

"As do I. Yachiru convinced me to make one." Tori chuckled. "Oh, wow. I've never seen a typhoon before. I've only heard about them."

"I was wondering about that. Is everything okay?"

"I'm very well, thank you." Tori grinned. "Me either. I'm sure it will be a good one."

"Oh yes, didn't you get my note?"

Robin bounced with excitement. "Some of my siblings are scared of storms, and Mom never lets me stay out when there's one coming. Of course we do live in Hurricane territory."

"I haven't either, but I've wanted to. I did handwavey see a tsunami from far off when I was younger. That was impressive."

"...Oh! The camping! I'm sorry, I think my brain is else where at the moment. Did you have a good time?"

"Yeah, my sister is scared of the storms." Tori admitted. "My mom doesn't like me outside when it's storming, but sometimes I sneak out for a little." She grinned sheepishly. "Oh wow, hurricane territory. That's got to be rough."

Robin sighed with relief. He didn't want to think he'd worried his room mate. "Oh yeah! I don't know if they have the Rocky Mountains where you're from, but they're absolutely glorious. I'd never been before. Even if there are Giant Man Eating Roosters there."

"I saw a twister once." Tori admitted. Not to mention her school had been taken up in it. "But other than that, I haven't witnesse many other forces of nature. A tsunami? Wow. That must have really been something."

"We're far enough inland that we're usually okay, but we have drills every month or so at school."

"Oh, I'm glad to hear that." Tori smiled, relieved.

"Giant Man Eating Roosters...? I thought this world didn't have monsters like that?"

Haku nodded emphaticly. "It really was. It was only a small one, but it still damaged a lot, thankfully there wasn't a town nearby."

"This one doesn't, but mine apparently does. I mean, I've always known there were monsters, but most of them are actually nice. They just look scary so people treat them like they are. I know plenty who are real softies once you get to know them. The Rooster was a new one to me though. And he actually seemed to be as scary as he looked."

"My older sister says they used to have air raid drills when she was a kid, back in the fifties and sixties."

Haku knew all about people looking scarier than they were. "I know what you mean exactly, but this one really was all bad though?"

"That must've been somewhat scary." Tori mused.

"Well see, my friend John, he told us this story about a Man Eating Chicken, that swore revenge against anyone who had chicken feathers stuffing their sleeping bags. We all thought it was a story, but then a big bird came out of the trees and chased him off." Robin gave a small shudder. "He got away, and his explanation for how he escaped was that it was actually a Rooster instead of a chicken. I'm...still not quite sure that explains it."

"Yeah, I'm glad there wasn't anyone to get hurt by it." Tori agreed.

"Oh... I suppose you had to be there?" He blinked, not sure what else there was to say. Hmm topic change time.

"But the mountians were really nice? I was born near a mountian range, it snowed a lot."

"So was I," Haku nodded. "I think my partner was disappointed though, he mentioned something about looting." The brunette ninja flushed slightly.

"He was never big in the morals area."

"Oh. Well, I guess not everyone can be." Tori shrugged, smiling a bit.

"I feel kind of embarressed about it now," Haku blushed, closing his eyes as he felt the first few patterings of rain.

Heck, Robin had been there and he wasn't sure he understood. "Oh yeah!" he bounced. "I grew up in Florida where there's not much in the way of even hills, so the Rockie's were really cool. There was some snow up on the higher peaks, but it was still summer where we were."

"She said it kinda stopped being so scary after awhile." he said. "They got kind of used to it I guess. Like..." he thought. "They could just kinda, push the scariness to the back of their mind cause they dealt with it so often."
