3rd Floor Common Room: Thursday Evening

Mel should be patrolling but instead she's in the common room with a TV showing some bizarre sitcom which she is ignoring so she can read a magazine and take quizzes.

"Am I adventurous? Hell. I don't need to take a quiz to figure that out," Mel said to herself.

John wandered into the common room in search of entertainment. "Whatcha reading, Mel?" he asked.

"Cosmopolitan," Mel shrugged. "Someone left it in here. How've you been John?"

"I'm hanging in there," he replied. "You taking a quiz?"

"Nah. Just reading the questions. Want to find out if you are adventurous?" Mel asked with a smirk.

"Okay. Your girlfriends invite you on a vacay to Greece. What's your agenda:

A. Checking out the local cuisine and some recommended locales
B. Hitting the wildest spots -- from nightclubs to nude beaches

John didn't really have to consider that, "Definitely B."

A. Ask to see a contract first.
B. Decline - What if it's a disaster?

John was thoughtful with this one, "If it was something like Deadliest Catch, I'd have to stick with A."

"All righty. Have you ever made a play for a guy you lust after. Even if it's just some random stud at a party?"

"Sadly, no," John responded, feigning a sigh.

"Hey John," Katara said with a little wave. "How are you?"

John smiled, "I'm good, Katara. What's new with you?"

"I learned how to use a computer today!" she said excitedly.

"What did you get to do with it?" John asked.

"Made dolls! In glitter class!" she explained. "And Rory told me that I could only hurt it with a sledgehammer. Anything else that went funny was the computer's fault." Katara beamed. "I was worried about that."

"Are you talking to yourself or the TV?" Katara asked cheerily as she came into the Common Room. "Not that I'm sure which is worse."

"Myself," Mel said with a shrug. "Apparently my inner monologue escaped me today. Want to take a quiz?"

"Sure!" she said, finding chocolate in the cupboard and throwing herself down by Mel. "What am I finding out?"

"If you are adventurous or not. You ready?" Mel asked as she picked up a pencil.

"Beaches!" she replied, quite possibly not having heard the qualifier. "Where's Greece?"

"You did hear the nude part, right? And I think Greece is in Your Rope," Mel explained.

Katara flailed. "No nudity! Can't there be beaches without nakedness?"

"That's not part of the choice selection, Mel said with a grin. C'mon."

She sighed. "Okay, fine. Still beaches. I can pay attention to the water. I don't want to go where people tell me to."

Rikku bounced into the common room. "Ooooh, adventurous? I'm adventurous. Can I do something if I am?"

"Sure!" Mel grinned. "Want to take a quiz to see how adventurous you are?"

"Okay!" Rikku grinned back. "Although I guess if you said 'no way, that sounds scary' that'd be kind of an answer right there, huh?"

Mel shook her head.:

Rikku chewed her lip. "Uh ... what's a vacay to grease?"

"Have some chocolate?" Katara offered throwing a piece at her. "I'm fresh out of adventures."

"I get chocolate for that?" Rikku bounced. "Sounds like a good time to me! I think I'm off adventures myself for a bit, though."

"Have there been some?" Katara asked, throwing chocolate at Rikku. She frowned. "Did you hurt yourself again?"

Rikku caught the chocolate deftly and broke a piece of it off. "Yup and nope. Valentine's world was getting all smashed up so we had to go save it. Totally fine, though, and Jude was all 'this time go to the clinic if there's anything wrong at all' and I was like 'no, totally' 'cause he was being really good about not being grumpy about me going and all." She nodded as if that was coherent.

"Awww, he was so worried about you last time," Katara said. "I bet he was worried this time too. I'm glad there was no grumpy though."

"He was?" Rikku smiled a little wistfully. "I hate, you know, that he ... it's not easy for him, when I go off like that, you know? But we kinda had to. I mean, the sky was eating people. You can't just go, 'hey, not my problem.'"

She nodded, knowing exactly what Rikku meant. "I know. You totally had to go help Valentine. I would have gone too. But it sucks being the one who has to stay behind and can't do anything."

Katara frowned. "But you already know that so I don't know why I'm telling you. Yay for saving the world!"

"I know," she said. "I mean, it's ... I wish he understood, you know? That I don't want some fighter guy that's gonna go off with me. I want him, to help me when I freak out once I'm back. That ... sounds awful, doesn't it?"

She shook her head. "Yeah. At least we did it, you know? The sky-shadowy-stuff is gone. I mean, that's huge, yeah?"

Katara shook her head. "I don't think it sounds awful. Everyone needs a touchstone. Yours is Jude. And yeah. It's totally huge. You guys did awesome."

"My touchstone," she said, mulling it over for a second, and then grinning. "I like that. That's awesome. I'm totally borrowing that. Uh, if that's okay. Yeah. Just ... you know. And I hope we did. Some girl came by this morning and said he's not back yet, which is ... kinda weird? I thought he would be. But if his world's back to normal there's gotta be places he needs to see, right?"

"You totally can. I probably stole from somewhere too. But it makes sense, you know?" She thought about the possibility of a world being better for a long moment. "I don't know. If it were my world, I might only come back to say goodbye and want to stay there forever."

Rikku nodded. "I just meant, you know. To tell him about this. Try to, anyway. And ..."

She thought for a long minute. "My world's saved now, but ... it's kinda ... dead. Everybody wants to rebuild it and I just ... I wanna stay here."
