The Roof, Monday Evening

Billy staked out a spot on the roof that would afford him a good view of the sunset, and settled in for some brooding. He wondered if he should have brought a stereo to play some dramatic music or something.

Adam, having spent almost the entire day in his room, wanted some fresh air and made his way up to the roof.

He hadn't really expected anyone to be there, but he wasn't terribly surprised when he spotted his roommate.

Billy turned at the sound of someone approaching. "Hey man." he waved. "Sup?"

"Hey. Not much, you?" Adam waved back, smiling slightly.

"Also not much. Came up here to watch the sunset."

"Cool. I was looking to get some fresh air," Adam admitted.

"It's quite fresh up here." Billy smirked. "Pull up a...well whatever you care to sit on. Though unless you've got super strength I don't know how mobile they are. We should bring chairs up here."

"That it is." Adam nodded in agreement. "Thanks." He looked around and decided to take a seat on the ground. "I really don't, but I wish I did. Chairs sounds like a good plan."

"Me, if I could choose a superpower, it'd be invulnerability."

"Invulnerability, that'd be nice to have."

"Anyone have superpowers where you're from?"

"Nope, everyone's basically normal," Adam admitted. "How about you?"

"Nope. Not really. The technology's a little advanced for the times, but no superpowers really."

Adam nodded, smiling a bit. "Guess we're just average joes, then." He was joking.

"Cept for the ninja part, and my cyborg leg." Billy smirked.

"Okay, so no one's exactly normal," Adam chuckled. "Especially in this place." Hey, he'd learned that one pretty quickly.

"Yeah. Some people might think they are, but I imagine, some people would think they were strange somehow."

"Yeah, it certainly seems that way, around here."

"How do people take your stories of Fandom when you write home?"

"Let's just say they're pretty surprised," Adam chuckled. "But they know I'm not one to make up things, so they believe me."

"That helps. Cause I don't know if everyone believes the stuff I told them at first."

"Yeah, I'm glad that my friends believe me," Adam admitted. "Though I know how crazy some of this stuff might sound to them."

"I think the thing that really convinced them was when I disappeared for a decade, and I was only here for six months."

"Oh wow, yeah. I'd say that was the clincher," Adam nodded, still a tiny bit bewildered by home time sometimes worked here.

"I mean they never gave any indication that they didn't believe me, but yeah. My foster parents freaked for a bit, till I explained why I'd disappeared. Basically time back home caught up to here."
