Third floor common room, Wednesday night

Hermione's reached a point where she's just bored. She's out of things to read that she hasn't read a dozen times already, she's out of yarn for knitting, her workshops are almost over and they're not really the studying kind, and Crookshanks hasn't been around all day to play with. Not that he plays voluntarily, but shut up.

So this is why she's in the common room, resorting to the television. It may rot the brain, but at least it's noise. She turns it on, flipping channels, and... ooh.

Hermione's found the Discovery Channel. Someone should probably stop her before the addiction sinks in.

Carmela wanders down a floor and into the common room.

"Hola," she waves to Hermione. "Ooh, what are we watching?" she says, peering inquisitively at the TV.

"I'm not sure, but the dogs are very cute," says Hermione, still watching Mythbusters intently.

Jim wandered up to the common room and smiled when he saw the Discovery Channel on. "Hey. What're you watching?"

"I haven't seen the name of it yet," Hermione says brightly. "But I want to take notes."

"If it's got cute animals, then I'm in," Carmela grins and wanders over to the kitchen area. "You want a soda or something?" she says, opening the fridge and grabbing one for herself.

Naminé stepped into the room, peering curiously at the screen. The logo flashed, and she blinked at it. "Discovery? What are we discovering?"

"Sure," she calls back, still watching the television. "Is this sort of thing on all the time?"

As the screen comes up showing the name, Hermione happily announces, "Mythbusters! It's fantastic!"

Such a geek.

Naminé smiled at her. "We're busting myths? That sounds rather fun. What sorts of myths?"

"On the Discovery Channel?" Carmela says as she uses a verb other than wanders makes her way back over to the couch, passing Hermione a can of soda and then sitting down. "Yeah. I'm not a big fan of the shows where they like, show real medical procedures in intense detail? But stuff like this is fun."

Carmela waves tentatively at the girl she recognises from Arts and Crafts. "Hi!" she says cheerfully.

"You do know that it's summer, right?" Jim asked.

"Hello there," Naminé smiled, waving back. "You've gotten all the paint out, then?"

Mel walked into the CR and saw Hermione watching TV.

And her jaw dropped.

"Holy crap! Granger's watching TV? Rutting hell. I better call Xander and see what the apocalypse is."

"It's educational!" Hermione protests. "They have educational television!"

"Thank you," she says, taking the can. "...They do that?"

"Isn't this the show where they blow stuff up?" Mel asked flopping on the couch. "Because that would be rocketship. And it's still TV Granger. I'm ashamed of you. Teacher's might find out and dock you a percentage point from your GPA."

"Ones about dogs," she says. "I don't know how I went this long without seeing it."

"That doesn't matter in the slightest," she says. "You don't stop learning because the seasons change."

"After approximately eleven thousand showers? Yeah," Carmela makes a crosseyed face. "I don't think I've ever introduced myself, by the way, even though we had a whole seven weeks of workshop together. I'm Carmela."

"Next time I'm taking notes," she says, still completely happily. "I'd be more than happy to write reports from what I've learned."

Sedative. Please.

"What sorts of myths do people have about dogs, then?" Naminé asked, with a light laugh. "Is this the pro-dog anti-cat propaganda? I find myself to be more of a cat person, really."

"Hey Namine," Mel said with a wave. "What's the good word?"

"I left my dress the way it was," Naminé smiled. "It's nice to have one dress that's all festive that way, I think. And do excuse me, I'm terrible with introductions, it seems. My name is Naminé. I'm a bit sad that that class is over, you know."
