Fourth Floor Common Room, Dinnertime

Isabel was in the mood to cook. After a trip to town to get supplies, she made a huge pot of taco meat, and then spent some time slicing and dicing an assortment of totally moddable toppings. There was even chocolate cake for dessert.

There was a CD glowing on the counter as it played some Jimmy Buffet and Isabel was quietly singing along. "Fins to the left, fins to the right and you're the only game in town..."

"Staying waaay over here," Charlie said, relieved. "Sorry it scared you. And sorry I freaked out and ran away."

"It's okay," Peter said. "Sorry I couldn't help more. I'm a little new to the having super powers."

"Yeah? When did you get yours?" Charlie asked. "I've had my abilities forever, I just never use them."

"I only discovered mine a few months back," Peter said. "If I had them before then, I had no idea."

"I guess if you were copying powers, and there was no one around to copy, you wouldn't know, hunh?" Charlie tilted her head. "So you found out when you came here?"

"Kinda, yeah," Peter said. "I thought I was going crazy at first. Turns out I'm not."

That had never been one of Charlie's problems, although she would have taken crazy over the truth a couple times. "Cool. That has to be fun, though. When it's not like mine."

"Gotta admit it is," Peter said. "Especially when it's TK like Isabel, or water bending like Katara."

"Water-bending-- wait, I met her. I didn't get to see what she can do, though." Charlie looked thoughtful. "Is it like what I can do with fire? Sort of?"

"Sort of, yeah," Peter said. "If there's water around she can control it."

"Maybe she can help me practice too. If she's okay with it." Charlie felt a little more hopeful. "I don't want that to happen again, so I have to learn what I'm doing."

"You and me both," Peter admitted. "It never occured to me to think about what would happen if I was around someone who had powers and I didn't know it."

"Around here, I guess that could happen more than once, hunh?" Charlie made a face. "Dean and Alec switched bodies, too, and Anders was telling me about people getting possessed, and having their abilities mis-used. There's not enough denial in the world that'll fix that if it happens to me."

"Sounds like we both have a lot of practice ahead of us," Peter said.
