3rd floor Common Room: Sunday morning [7-8-07]

Lana curled up on the couch and skimmed through channels for something to distract her. She finally settled on a movie about a shy girl who wants to break into the music industry and in the mean time works at a pretty wild bar. Not award winning material, but nice fluff.

[Open as common rooms are!]

Sabriel had decided to continue exploring today, and wandered up the stairs and into the third floor common room. She smiled to the girl already there, and glanced towards the television. "What are you watching? Is this a..." she hesitated, trying to remember the name. "A show?"

"I'm Sabriel," Sabriel said, grinning a little sheepishly. "I arrived in May, and I'm reading up on this time and place, but there's so much!"

"Ancelstierre." Sabriel waved a hand in what she though was towards the east. "It's not in this world, but if it was, I think it would be more towards the east. Towards your Europe."

"We have cinemas?" Sabriel offered. "But they're not in colour. And we don't have this much technology!" She shook her head in amazement. "I don't understand how everything works when there's also so much magic around. Technology and magic is really not compatible in my world."

"It is strange," Sabriel agreed. She smiled. "But not in a bad way! Does your world not have magic?"

Sabriel gave her a puzzled look. "Meteors? The rocks from space?"

"Mutants? You mean they change? What do they change into?"

[identity profile] abhorsentobe.livejournal.com 2007-07-08 05:51 pm (UTC)(link)
Sabriel winced. "That doesn't sound good. Is there a way to change them back?"

"Sounds very unpleasant," Sabriel said, and made a mental note to avoid meteors, just in case.

Since it was still far too hot out for her tastes, Anemone was back to wandering the dorm. Noticing people in the third floor common room, she stuck her head in. "Sabriel! Hi! And hi other person I do not know. What is the television telling us about today?"

[identity profile] abhorsentobe.livejournal.com 2007-07-08 08:16 pm (UTC)(link)
"Hi Anemone," Sabriel smiled. She tilted her head at the television. "A very strange public house, I believe."

[identity profile] death-of-hope.livejournal.com 2007-07-08 08:32 pm (UTC)(link)
"Public house?" Anemone squinted at the screen sideways. "What is a public house? Is this a fictional program, or an educational one like the people with the food?"

[identity profile] abhorsentobe.livejournal.com 2007-07-08 08:42 pm (UTC)(link)
"A public house is a place you can buy drinks and some foods. I believe there are some in town as well? Caritas and the other place?"

[identity profile] death-of-hope.livejournal.com 2007-07-09 12:11 am (UTC)(link)
"Ah." Anemone nodded wisely. "I've heard of Caritas. I was told it was an excellent place where they serve various types of alcohol. I've never actually been in one, since I was always on-call for work. Then this about girls who work in public houses? Interesting." Watching the television intently, she looked puzzled. "Do all girls in public houses dance like that? Why are they dancing, shouldn't they be serving the food more efficiently?"

"Oooooh! Like a fairy story! She's a Cinderella, and the Prince isn't here yet." A light went on behind her eyes. This, at least, was familiar. "Lana. That's a very pretty name. I am Anemone."
